University Of Virginia Researcher Charged After Trying To Board Flight To China While Allegedly In Possession Of Stolen Research

A researcher at the University of Virginia who was arrested while trying to board a plane to China with allegedly stolen research has been charged with federal crimes, including theft of trade secrets, the Justice Department announced Friday.

Haizhou Hu, 34, a Chinese national, roused the suspicions of authorities after a routine screening at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport Aug. 25 as he was trying to board a flight to China. “The screening revealed Hu was alleged to be in possession of bio-inspired research simulation software code that he was not authorized to possess,” the statement said.

Hu was charged with accessing a computer without authorization or exceeding authorization to obtain information from a protected computer and theft of trade secrets. He was conducting research in bio-mimics and fluid dynamics at the university.

Numerous researchers and professors at American universities have been arrested in 2019 and 2020 as the Justice Department cracks down on Beijing’s influence on college campuses, often on charges related to lying about ties with the Chinese government.

The Justice Department also announced the arrest of another Chinese national, who was a researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles. Guan Lei, 29, was charged with destroying evidence to obstruct an FBI investigation. Lei was in the U.S. on a J-1 non-immigrant visa.

Lei allegedly threw a hard drive into a trash dumpster near his resident on July 25, and the FBI recovered the hard drive after Leiwas not allowed to board a flight to China and didn’t allow the FBI to examine his computer.

The data on the hard drive was allegedly “removed deliberately and by force,” the statement said. He is being investigated for possibly transferring sensitive U.S. software to China’s National University of Defense Technology (NUDT).

Lei also allegedly lied about his ties to the People’s Liberation Army, or China’s military in his 2018 visa application. Lei later admitted to participating in the Chinese military, and it was discovered that one of his NUDT advisors was a Lieutenant General in the Chinese military who developed computers and nuclear technology for departments of the People’s Liberation Army, according to the statement.

Only a few days prior to the aforementioned arrests, Zhengdong Cheng, a professor at Texas A&M, was arrested on charges including lying about his ties with Chinese-owned universities while accepting NASA funding.

CONFIRMED: Dr. Fauci Snubs President Trump – Reinstates Grant with Company Connected to China Coronavirus – After Trump Demanded an End to the Contract in April

Crazy Dr. Fauci is again up to no good.  The top doctor behind the US economic shutdowns and government invasion of every constitutional right every American citizen holds is now rebuking the President’s orders.

Yesterday it was announced in a press release that the ‘non-profit’ firm EcoHealth Alliance had been awarded a grant of $7.5 million by the National Institute of Allergies and Infections Diseases (NIAID) which is run by Dr. Fauci.

The problem with this new contract is that President Trump wanted an end to any government relationship with this company in April due to its ties with Communist China and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Far left Politico reported in late April:

The Trump administration abruptly cut off funding for a project studying how coronaviruses spread from bats to people after reports linked the work to a lab in Wuhan, China, at the center of conspiracy theories about the Covid-19 pandemic’s origins.

The National Institutes of Health on Friday told EcoHealth Alliance, the study’s sponsor for the past five years, that all future funding was cut. The agency also demanded that the New York-based research nonprofit stop spending the $369,819 remaining from its 2020 grant, according to emails obtained by POLITICO.

Through this new action, Dr. Fauci appears to be sticking his thumb in the President’s eye, defying the President’s orders from April because undoubtedly some of the funding to the EcoHealth Alliance, either directly or indirectly, goes to China, and probably to the Wuhan Institute of Virology with whom the EcoHealth Alliance has had very close collaboration for many years.

Most Americans would be very upset knowing that Dr. Fauci is sending US taxpayer money to an outfit with connections in China allegedly responsible for now over 170,000 American deaths and untold economic hardship this year caused by the China coronavirus.

While President Trump and America rebound from the China coronavirus pandemic and begin struggling with the ramifications and policies related to China’s release of the coronavirus, Dr. Fauci is paying China for its efforts.

Joe Biden quotes Mao

As Republicans were preparing to hold their sizzling convention, Joe Biden was last seen quoting...Mao.

According to National Review:

Joe Biden used a quote from brutal Chinese dictator Mao Zedong to explain his pick of Kamala Harris as his running mate during the ticket's first public interview Sunday.

When asked by ABC News's Robin Roberts whether he felt "pressure to select a black woman," Biden responded by saying he did not feel pressure, explaining that he did want his government to "look like the people, look like the country."

"51 percent of the people in this country are women," he said. "As that old expression goes, 'women hold up half the sky.'"

This, as it turns out, is some poetic balderdash inconsistent with science that was a '60s pop poster theme among the Bill Ayers set.  The starry-eyed phrase was, in fact, written by Chinese dictator Mao Zedong, probably the 20th century's most brutal dictator, responsible for the starvation deaths and mass imprisonment and killing of tens of millions.  He was, you know, a poet.  And his poetry there was to make the little ladies feel good — the ones he starved and forced to dress as worker ants heading off to work in the salt mines and night-soil farms, loudspeakers blaring propaganda as they toiled.

According to National Review:

Biden's reference to "that old expression" is in fact a well-known proclamation that Mao made to promote women leaving the home amid the Cultural Revolution in China. It was then widely used as propaganda during the "Great Leap Forward," during which Mao's regime caused the deaths of an estimated 45 million Chinese people from 1958 to 1962.

It is not the first time that Biden has used the quote — in July, he said the same phrase during a digital fundraiser with former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.

That's whom Joe quoted, the very Joe Biden who's trying to sell himself to the American public as Mister Moderate, while truly Marxist forces gather all around him.

It's pretty disgusting that with all the poets out there, somehow, Mao's the one who got quoted by basement Joe.

This rather tells us a lot.

Communism may be discredited the world over, and the Chicoms themselves often downplaying the horridness of the autocrat.  But sitting inside the Biden inner circle, where all the kaffeeklatsch talk and shooting the bull goes on, there are people in touch with Joe for whom quoting Mao is perfectly normal.  Someone told Joe to use the Mao phrase to charm and fool the little ladies, same as Mao did.  There are a whole lot of them circling Joe.

There's senior adviser Anita Dunn, for one, as National Review notes — she expressed huge admiration for Mao, quoting him by name as she addressed high school students in 2009.

As with Bill de Blasio who got caught quoting Che Guevara, these communist tyrants and killers are part of their intellectual milieu.  They're the go-to guys for quotes, not Shakespeare.  It's sure as heck not the go-to quotes of moderates, or people of any decency.  It just goes to show the intellectual driving force of the Democrats.

TikTok to Challenge Trump’s Executive Order

TikTok said on Aug. 22 it plans to file a lawsuit on Monday against President Donald Trump’s executive order prohibiting transactions with the popular short video app and its Chinese parent ByteDance, confirming an earlier Reuters report.

Reuters exclusively reported on Friday that TikTok would challenge Trump’s executive order as early as Monday.

TikTok said it had tried to engage with the U.S administration for nearly a year, but faced “a lack of due process.”

“To ensure that the rule of law is not discarded and that our company and users are treated fairly, we have no choice but to challenge the executive order through the judicial system,” the company said in a statement.

TikTok’s owner ByteDance issued a separate statement on Sunday saying it will officially file a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Monday, Aug. 24.

Trump issued an executive order on Aug. 14 that gave ByteDance 90 days to divest from the U.S. operations of TikTok. ByteDance has been making progress in talks with potential acquirers, including Microsoft Corp. and Oracle. Some of ByteDance’s U.S. investors could also join the winning bid.

While TikTok is best known for its anodyne videos of people dancing and going viral among teenagers, U.S. officials have expressed concerns that information on users could be passed on to the Chinese regime.

TikTok, which was acquired by Beijing-based ByteDance Technology Co. in 2017, is estimated to have tens of millions of active users in the United States.

The crux of the concern is that under a 2017 national intelligence law, Chinese companies are required to provide their data to the Communist Party.

TikTok’s legal challenge would not shield ByteDance from having to divest the app. This is because it does not pertain to the Aug. 14 order on the sale of TikTok, which is not subject to judicial review.

However, the move shows that ByteDance is seeking to deploy all the legal ammunition at its disposal as it tries to prevent the TikTok deal negotiations from turning into a fire sale.

The Trump administration has stepped up its efforts to purge what it deems “untrusted” Chinese apps from U.S. digital networks. Beyond TikTok, Trump has also issued an order that would prohibit transactions with Tencent Holding’s WeChat.

The State Department, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and Transportation Security Administration have already barred TikTok on government devices, and in December 2019, the U.S. Army blocked its soldiers from using the app. Lt. Col. Robin Ochoa, an Army spokeswoman, told Millitary.com that “it is considered a cyber threat.”

Trump has said he would support an effort by Microsoft to buy TikTok’s American operations if the U.S. government got a “substantial portion” of the proceeds, but has also said there are other interested potential buyers such as Oracle.

A representative for the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Isn’t That Rich. Corrupt Hunter Biden Tells Convention What A Great President His Father Would Be

H

unter Biden has a lot to thank his dad, Joe Biden for. The son received million-dollar jobs working with Ukraine and China, hand-delivered to him by then vice president dad, Joe. The younger Biden has also had a sordid past of drug and alcohol addiction and controversial relationships with women. Last night was his opportunity to thank his father for getting him out of hot water time and time again.

“We want to tell you what kind of president our dad will be. He will be tough and honest” Hunter, along with his younger sister Ashley told the convention. Is Hunter really the best character witness for his father? “The Senate Homeland Security Committee is currently investigating whether Hunter Biden or companies connected to him received favorable treatment from the Obama administration” reports Breitbart.

“One of the companies central to the probe is Burisma Holdings, on whose board of directors Hunter Biden served between 2014 and 2019” adds Breitbart. That’s just part of Hunter’s suspect foreign business relations. Hunter Biden was dismissed from the Navy Reserve in 2014 after testing positive for cocaine.

In 2016 Hunter admitted to being held at gunpoint during a drug deal to purchase crack in Los Angeles. In 2017, Arizona police found a crack pipe in his rental car. Being the son of a prominent Democrat certainly has its benefits; like staying out of jail for multiple drug and substance abuse. After his brother Beau died, he engaged in a relationship with his dead brother’s ex-wife.

Joe Biden has repeatedly claimed zero involvement with Hunter’s foreign business dealings, claiming they never even discussed it. However, a December 2013 trip to China Hunter took with his father on Air Force Two likely suggests otherwise. “The vice president traveled to Beijing as part of an Obama administration effort to tamp down tensions in the Far East. Within weeks of that visit, Hunter Biden was involved in business there as a participant in a firm called Bohai Harvest RST” reported ABC News.

Biden’s involvement with the corporation “formed a novel Chinese-American investment partnership that involved such Chinese state-owned firms as the Bank of China.” Additionally, “reports at the time said they sought to raise $1.5 billion” added ABC News. Also, the ABC News article references a New Yorker report in which, “Hunter Biden acknowledges he introduced his father to one of his new business partners – Jonathan Li, who ran a Chinese private-equity fund, Bohai Capital.” When it comes to Hunter and Joe, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Pot, meet kettle.

Former CIA Officer Arrested and Charged with Espionage

Who knew? Wo Fat from Hawaii 5-0 is real.

Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, 67, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, was arrested on Aug. 14, 2020, on a charge that he conspired with a relative of his who also was a former CIA officer to communicate classified information up to the Top Secret level to intelligence officials of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).  The Criminal Complaint containing the charge was unsealed this morning.

Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawaii Kenji M. Price, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division Alan E. Kohler Jr., and Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Honolulu Field Office Eli S. Miranda made the announcement.

“The trail of Chinese espionage is long and, sadly, strewn with former American intelligence officers who betrayed their colleagues, their country and its liberal democratic values to support an authoritarian communist regime,” said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers.  “This betrayal is never worth it.  Whether immediately, or many years after they thought they got away with it, we will find these traitors and we will bring them to justice.  To the Chinese intelligence services, these individuals are expendable.  To us, they are sad but urgent reminders of the need to stay vigilant.”

“The charges announced today are a sobering reminder to our communities in Hawaii of the constant threat posed by those who seek to jeopardize our nation’s security through acts of espionage,” said U.S. Attorney Price. “Of particular concern are the criminal acts of those who served in our nation’s intelligence community, but then choose to betray their former colleagues and the nation-at large by divulging classified national defense information to China. My office will continue to tenaciously pursue espionage cases.”

“This serious act of espionage is another example in a long string of illicit activities that thePeople's Republic of China is conducting within and against the United States,” said Alan E. Kohler Jr., Assistant Director of the FBI's Counterintelligence Division.  “This case demonstrates that no matter the length or difficulty of the investigation, the men and women of the FBI will work tirelessly to protect our national security from the threat posed by Chinese intelligence services.  Let it be known that anyone who violates a position of trust to betray the United States will face justice, no matter how many years it takes to bring their crimes to light.”

“These cases are very complicated and take years if not decades to bring to a conclusion,” said Eli Miranda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Honolulu Division.  “I could not be more proud of the work done by the men and women of the FBI's Honolulu Division in pursuing this case. Their dedication is a reminder that the FBI will never waiver when it comes to ensuring the safety and security of our nation.”

Ma is a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Hong Kong. According to court documents, Ma began working for the CIA in 1982, maintained a Top Secret clearance, and signed numerous non-disclosure agreements in which he acknowledged his responsibility and ongoing duty to protect U.S. government secrets during his tenure at CIA.  Ma left the CIA in 1989 and lived and worked in Shanghai, China before arriving in Hawaii in 2001.

According to court documents, Ma and his relative (identified as co-conspirator #1) conspired with each other and multiple PRC intelligence officials to communicate classified national defense information over the course of a decade.  The scheme began with three days of meetings in Hong Kong in March 2001 during which the two former CIA officers provided information to the foreign intelligence service about the CIA’s personnel, operations, and methods of concealing communications.  Part of the meeting was captured on videotape, including a portion where Ma can be seen receiving and counting $50,000 in cash for the secrets they provided.

The court documents further allege that after Ma moved to Hawaii, he sought employment with the FBI in order to once again gain access to classified U.S. government information which he could in turn provide to his PRC handlers. In 2004, the FBI’s Honolulu Field Office hired Ma as a contract linguist tasked with reviewing and translating Chinese language documents.  Over the following six years, Ma regularly copied, photographed and stole documents that displayed U.S. classification markings such as “SECRET.”  Ma took some of the stolen documents and images with him on his frequent trips to China with the intent to provide them to his handlers.  Ma often returned from China with thousands of dollars in cash and expensive gifts, such as a new set of golf clubs.

According to court documents, in spring 2019, over the course of two in-person meetings, Ma confirmed his espionage activities to an FBI undercover employee Ma believed was a representative of the PRC intelligence service, and accepted $2,000 in cash from the FBI undercover as “small token” of appreciation for Ma’s assistance to China.  Ma also offered to once again work for the PRC intelligence service.  On August 12, 2020, during a meeting with an FBI undercover employee before arrest, Ma again accepted money for his past espionage activities, expressed his willingness to continue to help the Chinese government, and stated that he wanted “the motherland” to succeed.

Ma will make his initial appearance before a federal judge tomorrow in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii.  He is charged with conspiracy to communicate national defense information to aid a foreign government and faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment if convicted.  The maximum sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes.  In the event Ma is convicted, a federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the advisory Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Honolulu and Los Angeles Field Offices. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ken Sorenson and Trial Attorneys Scott Claffee and Steve Marzen of the National Security Division’s Counterintelligence and Export Control Section are prosecuting the case.

Navarro Says Kodak’s Early Disclosure Of $765M COVID-19 Loan May Derail Its Pharma Aspirations

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro listens as President Donald Trump speaks during a news conference at the White House, Friday, Aug. 14, 2020, in Washington.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro recently criticized Kodak for disclosing information on a massive federal loan. On Monday, Navarro stated that Kodak was well-positioned to rebuild its business as a pharmaceutical manufacturer with federal help.

However, when Kodak received a federal loan of $765 million back in July, the company disclosed the deal to reporters one-day before the formal announcement and its stock skyrocketed.

Subsequently, the he U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) opened a probe that alleged insider trading by that company.

“We don’t know why that happened or what they did, let the investigation happen…Kodak is doing an internal one as well,” said Navarro. “But we’re looking forward, we’re not looking in the rear-view mirror…you can’t fix stupid.”

The White House trade adviser also noted that the federal government is now looking at other companies to reduce America’s reliance on Chinese imports and Kodak is for now off the table.
