Che Guevara's birthplace put up for sale

The birthplace of the 20th Century leftist revolutionary icon Ernesto "Che" Guevara has been put up for sale in the Argentine city of Rosario.

Current owner Francisco Farruggia said he had bought the 240 sq m (2,580 sq ft) apartment in a neo-classical style building in the city centre in 2002.

He said he had wanted to turn it into a cultural centre, but the plan never materialised.

The Argentine businessman did not say what asking price he would put on.

 Che Guevara was born in a flat in a neo-classical style building in central Rosario in 1928

Over the years, the building between Urquiza and Entre Ríos streets has attracted a number of illustrious visitors.

These included Uruguay's ex-President José Pepe Mujica, and the children of Fidel Castro, Cuba's revolutionary leader.

But perhaps the most famous visitor was Alberto Granados, who travelled with Che Guevara when he was a young doctor by motorcycle through South America in the 1950s.

Che Guevara wanted to spread revolution across South America

Che Guevara was born in a wealthy middle class family in 1928, but was later radicalised by the poverty and hunger he witnessed in South America.

He played a key role in the Cuban revolution in 1953-59, which overthrew dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Che Guevara then expressed his desire to spread revolution across South America and other developing nations.

From Cuba he travelled to Bolivia to lead forces rebelling against the government of President René Barrientos Ortuño.

With US assistance, the Bolivian army captured Che Guevara and his remaining fighters. He was executed on 9 October 1967 in the village of La Higuera, and his body was buried in a secret location.

In 1997, his remains were discovered, exhumed and returned to Cuba, where he was reburied.

The revolutionary still divides opinion as much today as he did in life.

His supporters see him as an example of commitment and self-sacrifice, his critics see a man they consider brutal and cruel.

Activists Reenact Communist ‘Struggle Sessions’ for the 

Insufficiently Woke

Silence is violence.

That’s the attitude of radical “woke” activists, who increasingly demand that fellow Americans 

not only agree with them, but publicly demonstrate their support at all times.

Several viral videos from Washington, D.C., on Monday show groups marching around the city, 

shouting slogans, and yelling things like “white silence is violence.”

In the videos, a mob appears to be harassing diners and other random white people, 

demanding they raise their fists or otherwise support the Black Lives Matter movement.

In one video, a woman is surrounded by the mob and screamed at by the protesters.

The Washington Post identified the woman as Lauren B. Victor, an urban planner who lives 

in the District of Columbia.

Victor said that she was actually a supporter of Black Lives Matter and had participated in protests, 

but felt like she was under attack by the crowd and didn’t want to be coerced.

“In the moment, it didn’t feel right,” Victor said, according to the Post.

The crowd appeared to be mostly white, though one of the leaders was a black woman, 

according to The Washington Post.

One of the protesters, Chuck Modiano, is a self-described “justice journalist” for Deadspin, 

a sports news and commentary website.

This falls right in line with the idea that “wokeness” in America is being generated by 

an increasingly activist and stridently left-wing media.

After Victor refused to stand, Modiano said derisively, “, “Good for you—you stood your ground.”

The incident was so bad that even Washington’s mayor, Muriel Bowser, who has been 

a supporter of the Black Lives Matter protests, called it “highly inappropriate.”

She suggested businesses call law enforcement if they are subjected to this in the future. 

Of course, that might be a little rough if activists get their demand to “defund the police.”

One could write these scenes off as perhaps isolated incidents in a deeply progressive, 

politically active city.

However, in this summer of protests turned to riots, radicalism, and anarchy, one can’t 

dismiss how the politics and ideas once confined to small corners of higher education 

are being injected into the mainstream of American life.

As Robby Soave wrote for Reason, this absurd bullying tactic isn’t new.

This is the Evergreen College model of social justice deployed off-campus,” Soave wrote. 

“Readers may recall the infamous 2017 episode involving a progressive professor who 

was forced to leave campus after drawing the ire of activist students. These students then 

essentially physically cornered the president of the college and refused to let him leave 

a meeting until he accepted their demands.”

Now it’s not just college campus speakers being subjected to this treatment, it’s people 

minding their own business, eating at a restaurant on a Monday night.

This practice of mob shaming has even earlier precedents, of course.

In the Chinese Cultural Revolution of the 1960s, when Mao Zedong’s Communist Party 

took over the country, one of his tactics was to employ mobs of young people and students 

to swarm, shame, and harass those of insufficient zeal for the cause.

Victims of this tactic were berated until they admitted they were guilty of class crimes 

against the proletariat.

These so-called struggle sessions were used to terrorize the entire population into complicity 

with the communist agenda. All dissent was to be crushed and stamped out.

The radical left has evolved since the days of Mao. Those who oppose their agenda are now 

guilty of race crimes without sufficient zeal for “anti-racism” as they define it.

And the way they define it looks an awful lot like, well, racism.

The message of these anti-racist mobs is quite simple: Join us or we’ll berate you, 

refuse to comply and we’ll cancel you.

Given the policy proposals of the anti-racist woke intellectual vanguard, which would essentially 

strip the individual and civil rights of any who don’t support their agenda, is this really a surprise?

The modern reenactments of Maoist struggle sessions may be limited for now, 

but they do demonstrate how the thuggish anti-speech culture of college campuses is coming to a 

city near you.

Joe Biden quotes Mao

 As Republicans were preparing to hold their sizzling convention, Joe Biden was last seen quoting...Mao.

According to National Review:

Joe Biden used a quote from brutal Chinese dictator Mao Zedong to explain his pick of Kamala Harris as his running mate during the ticket's first public interview Sunday.

When asked by ABC News's Robin Roberts whether he felt "pressure to select a black woman," Biden responded by saying he did not feel pressure, explaining that he did want his government to "look like the people, look like the country."

"51 percent of the people in this country are women," he said. "As that old expression goes, 'women hold up half the sky.'"

This, as it turns out, is some poetic balderdash inconsistent with science that was a '60s pop poster theme among the Bill Ayers set.  The starry-eyed phrase was, in fact, written by Chinese dictator Mao Zedong, probably the 20th century's most brutal dictator, responsible for the starvation deaths and mass imprisonment and killing of tens of millions.  He was, you know, a poet.  And his poetry there was to make the little ladies feel good — the ones he starved and forced to dress as worker ants heading off to work in the salt mines and night-soil farms, loudspeakers blaring propaganda as they toiled.

According to National Review:

Biden's reference to "that old expression" is in fact a well-known proclamation that Mao made to promote women leaving the home amid the Cultural Revolution in China. It was then widely used as propaganda during the "Great Leap Forward," during which Mao's regime caused the deaths of an estimated 45 million Chinese people from 1958 to 1962.

It is not the first time that Biden has used the quote — in July, he said the same phrase during a digital fundraiser with former Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.

That's whom Joe quoted, the very Joe Biden who's trying to sell himself to the American public as Mister Moderate, while truly Marxist forces gather all around him.

It's pretty disgusting that with all the poets out there, somehow, Mao's the one who got quoted by basement Joe. 

This rather tells us a lot. 

Communism may be discredited the world over, and the Chicoms themselves often downplaying the horridness of the autocrat.  But sitting inside the Biden inner circle, where all the kaffeeklatsch talk and shooting the bull goes on, there are people in touch with Joe for whom quoting Mao is perfectly normal.  Someone told Joe to use the Mao phrase to charm and fool the little ladies, same as Mao did.  There are a whole lot of them circling Joe.

There's senior adviser Anita Dunn, for one, as National Review notes — she expressed huge admiration for Mao, quoting him by name as she addressed high school students in 2009. 

As with Bill de Blasio who got caught quoting Che Guevara, these communist tyrants and killers are part of their intellectual milieu.  They're the go-to guys for quotes, not Shakespeare.  It's sure as heck not the go-to quotes of moderates, or people of any decency.  It just goes to show the intellectual driving force of the Democrats.

Isn’t That Rich. Corrupt Hunter Biden Tells Convention What A Great President His Father Would Be

unter Biden has a lot to thank his dad, Joe Biden for. The son received million-dollar jobs working with Ukraine and China, hand-delivered to him by then vice president dad, Joe. The younger Biden has also had a sordid past of drug and alcohol addiction and controversial relationships with women. Last night was his opportunity to thank his father for getting him out of hot water time and time again.

“We want to tell you what kind of president our dad will be. He will be tough and honest” Hunter, along with his younger sister Ashley told the convention. Is Hunter really the best character witness for his father? “The Senate Homeland Security Committee is currently investigating whether Hunter Biden or companies connected to him received favorable treatment from the Obama administration” reports Breitbart.

“One of the companies central to the probe is Burisma Holdings, on whose board of directors Hunter Biden served between 2014 and 2019” adds Breitbart. That’s just part of Hunter’s suspect foreign business relations. Hunter Biden was dismissed from the Navy Reserve in 2014 after testing positive for cocaine.

In 2016 Hunter admitted to being held at gunpoint during a drug deal to purchase crack in Los Angeles. In 2017, Arizona police found a crack pipe in his rental car. Being the son of a prominent Democrat certainly has its benefits; like staying out of jail for multiple drug and substance abuse. After his brother Beau died, he engaged in a relationship with his dead brother’s ex-wife.

Joe Biden has repeatedly claimed zero involvement with Hunter’s foreign business dealings, claiming they never even discussed it. However, a December 2013 trip to China Hunter took with his father on Air Force Two likely suggests otherwise. “The vice president traveled to Beijing as part of an Obama administration effort to tamp down tensions in the Far East. Within weeks of that visit, Hunter Biden was involved in business there as a participant in a firm called Bohai Harvest RST” reported ABC News.

Biden’s involvement with the corporation “formed a novel Chinese-American investment partnership that involved such Chinese state-owned firms as the Bank of China.” Additionally, “reports at the time said they sought to raise $1.5 billion” added ABC News. Also, the ABC News article references a New Yorker report in which, “Hunter Biden acknowledges he introduced his father to one of his new business partners – Jonathan Li, who ran a Chinese private-equity fund, Bohai Capital.” When it comes to Hunter and Joe, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Communism’s First Defeat

 A century ago a citizen army stopped a Soviet takeover of Europe.

Communism arose in a time of pandemic and war. In 1918, the Bolshevik party led by V. I. Lenin seized control of Russia amid a world numbed by the slaughter of a world war and the seemingly unstoppable spread of influenza. Promising a utopia of equality, the communist message proved seductive to many in Europe and America. In the summer of 1920, having defeated his most serious internal foes, Lenin decided to launch a full-scale invasion of Europe to spread communism all across the continent.

Soviet communism proved anything but a utopian “worker’s paradise.” The Bolsheviks brutally eliminated their political opponents on both left and right, sparking a four-year civil war that killed several million people in Russia and neighboring lands. Tsarist autocracy had a justified reputation for cruelty and in the half century preceding the Revolution, it had executed almost 6000 people and exiled tens of thousands to Siberia. Yet in just four years, Lenin’s communist regime carried out at least thirty times as many death sentences, not counting hundreds of thousands murdered in extrajudicial killings. Despite this, support for the Soviets in the West grew as left-wing groups mobilized to help the Bolsheviks abroad and imitate their success at home.

By early 1920, White armies were in full retreat and Western resolve to oppose communism faded. To Russia’s west, Germany’s defeat and Austria-Hungary’s collapse allowed the emergence of newly independent nations from Finland to Hungary. As long as White armies had posed a threat to the Bolshevik regime, Lenin had been content to let these new countries alone. Now, with a reorganized and victorious Red Army numbering over 5 million he turned his eyes West. His main objective was Germany. The birthplace of Karl Marx had been disrupted by revolts and unrest and had one of Europe’s strongest communist movements. Germany appeared ripe for revolution that could be easily achieved with the help of the Red Army. In the spring of 1920, the Soviets issued orders for a massive western offensive.

To reach central Europe, however, the Red Army would first have to overrun newly independent Poland which recovered its independence in 1918 after 123 years of foreign subjugation. With its economy and infrastructure wrecked by four years of war and occupation, Poland was in rough shape and its situation was made even worse by widespread famine and epidemics of influenza and typhus. Its leader, socialist Józef Piłsudski, saw a resurgent Russia under Lenin as his country’s greatest threat and tried without success to create a confederation with the Baltic States and Ukraine to resist communist expansion. Despite this, the Poles were determined to resist Soviet invasion.

As the Red Army began to transfer forces west for its push into Europe, Piłsudski decided on a pre-emptive attack, sending the Polish Army into Ukraine. His plan was to drive out the Red Army and create an independent Ukraine under Symon Petliura that would be a bulwark against the Reds. At first the attack seemed to succeed, and the Reds abandoned Kiev in early May. But the Poles failed to destroy a significant portion of the Red Army which simply withdrew eastward. The majority of Ukrainians, exhausted and terrorized by years of war, proved just as apathetic toward the Polish-supported Petliura government as they had toward the Reds or Whites. The Soviets turned the incident into a propaganda victory, claiming to be the victims of Polish aggression.

In the summer of 1920, Lenin launched his offensive with two massive army groups. Gen. Mikhail Tukhachevsky, a violent nihilist but also the Red Army’s best general, led the Northern Front advancing from Belarus. The Southern Front, led by Alexander Yegorov, was spearheaded by a corps of 16,000 Red Cossacks commanded by Semyon Budyonny and his political commissar Josef Stalin. The Polish armies despite being outnumbered and ill-equipped had some key advantages. They were often more disciplined and had a better air force. Polish fliers were joined by a group of American volunteers, led by Cedric Fauntelroy and Merian Cooper. In addition, Polish cryptologists had broken Red Army radio codes.

In July, Tukhachevsky’s army broke through Polish lines and began its drive westward. In the south, Budyonny’s Cossacks forced the Poles back. Unlike most fighting in World War I, the Polish-Soviet war would be a war of rapid maneuver often using cavalry, but also armored trains and small units of motorized vehicles.

By the beginning of August 1920, hundreds of thousands of Red Army soldiers bore down on the gates of Warsaw while in the south Red Cossacks, swarmed toward the city of Lwow. The Soviet advance was accompanied by murder, rape, and destruction. The communists killed landowners, clergy, prisoners of war, business people, and anyone suspected of being a capitalist. Towns and villages were systematically wrecked. According to author Adam Zamoyski “the universal calling card of a visit by Red soldiers was shit—on furniture, on paintings, on beds, on carpets, in books, in drawers, on plates.”

Poland seemed doomed and with the fall of her capital the gates of Europe would be opened. In the West, communist sympathizers blocked both military and humanitarian aid for Poland, stopping trains and refusing to unload ships. The French sent a small group of military advisors who provided no useful advice. Unrest and exhaustion at home and communist agitation at home paralyzed most of Europe’s leaders.

Yet all was not lost. In Warsaw and throughout the country tens of thousands of civilians joined volunteer units. Groups of workers and Orthodox Jews mobilized to build a ring of defenses around the city. In the south, Polish and American pilots, flying mission after mission, harassed and disrupted advancing Red Forces. The Americans were singled out for their courage, one Polish report stating “The American aviators, although exhausted, fought like madmen.” The Americans were singled out the Soviets as well who put a price on their heads and a death sentence for their officers if captured alive. Meanwhile, Piłsudski conceived of a daring plan to save his country. As the Reds advanced on Warsaw, he placed one force to blunt the Soviet advance while he secretly shifted a strike force of his best divisions to the south of the city toward the exposed flank of Tukhachevsky’s onrushing army.

On August 12, the Red Army began its assault. Tukhachevsky declared “Over the corpse of White Poland lies the path to worldwide revolution!” Masses of Bolsheviks broke through the first line of Warsaw’s defense. Volunteer units made up of workers, peasants, boy scouts, and women joined the defense. Priests armed only with crucifixes led counterattacks. The town of Radzymin, just 20 km from Warsaw, changed hands five times in hand to hand fighting. For three days, the defenses barely held on, pinning down the bulk of Tukhachevsky’s men.

On August 16, with the Red Army just miles from Warsaw, Piłsudski ordered his strike force into action, hitting the lightly defended Soviet left flank. The surprise was complete. Polish forces advanced almost 30 miles in the first day, cutting off the Bolshevik spearheads. It took Tukhachevsky almost two days to realize what had happened as his army began to collapse. Some units surrendered enmasse, others fled across the border into Prussia, others turned into a panicked mob. In the south, the Poles counterattacked Budyonny and Stalin’s Red Cossacks and nearly annihilated them. (Stalin would never forget this loss to the Poles and would later take his revenge by ordering the mass killing of hundreds of thousands of Poles.) By October, any hope of a communist advance into central Europe had vanished and Lenin agreed to a ceasefire.

During the fighting, the American pilot Merian Cooper was shot down and captured by Red Cossacks. Despite the price on his head, he concealed his identity from his captors and survived a mock execution. With two Polish comrades, he escaped a POW camp and made his way through hundreds of miles of hostile territory to free Latvia. Awarded Poland’s highest military decoration, Cooper returned to the United States where he became a noted movie director, most famously directing King Kong. His experiences in the war made him one of Hollywood’s staunchest anti-communists.

As a result of the Battle of Warsaw, the communist “utopia” would be locked inside Russia for almost two decades, its leaders becoming ever more extreme, paranoid, and violent. A brief, wary interlude of peace settled over Europe, lasting until rise of Nazism in Germany which would once again set the world ablaze and allow the Soviets to revive their dream of worldwide conflagration. Temporary though it was, the Polish victory a century ago proved that the march of communism is not inevitable and that with determination and courage, free people can prevail even when the odds seem overwhelming and all hope seems lost.
