Jamaal Bowman, Mamdani’s pick for education, operated a radical NYC school without a license

Rep. Jamaal Bowman leaving the U.S. Capitol Building.

Jamaal Bowman could land on the shortlist to be the city's next schools chancellor if Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor, sources told The Post.

Jamaal Bowman, the scandal-plagued former congressman and fire safety enthusiast, is reportedly on the shortlist to become chancellor of New York City schools.

If the socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the mayoral race later this year, analysts believe Bowman is likely to be tapped to oversee America’s largest public school system, with nearly a million students in more than 1,000 schools.

But a new controversy, tracing back to his days as a school principal, should be enough to give pause: Bowman violated state education law.

Prior to being elected to Congress, a position he held from 2021 to 2025, Bowman was the founder and principal of the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action, a public middle school in the Bronx.

To legally serve as a public school principal, “an individual must hold a valid certificate authorizing such service,” according to the New York State Department of Education. State records indicate that Bowman was issued a School Building Leader Initial Certificate on Feb. 1, 2009, but Bowman allowed the certificate to expire on Jan. 31, 2014, and did not re-establish his certification until Dec. 16, 2015.

In other words, for a period of nearly two years, Jamaal Bowman operated a public school without a license — a violation of New York law.

Bowman ignored multiple requests for comment.

This is hardly the first time Bowman has been in trouble for bending the rules. As we reported last year, Bowman appears to have plagiarized multiple passages of the Ed.D. dissertation.

Before that, while serving in Congress, Bowman pulled a fire alarm as Democrats were attempting to delay a vote on a bill, resulting in an unnecessary evacuation. Initially, Bowman claimed to have pulled the fire alarm by accident, with his office distributing suggested “talking points” to political allies, including a reference to Republicans as “Nazis.” Bowman later admitted to falsely pulling the fire alarm and agreed to pay a fine and write a letter of apology to first responders.

His record as principal at Cornerstone Academy was also checkered with controversy and failure.

During his tenure, Bowman likened standardized testing to “modern-day slavery” and caused outrage by commissioning a “Wall of Honor” that featured portraits of black militants Mutulu Shakur and Assata Shakur, both of whom were convicted of murdering police officers.

In his spare time, Bowman also wrote rambling, paranoid, and incoherent poems that promoted 9/11 conspiracy theories.

Unfortunately, student outcomes at Cornerstone were no better than Bowman’s poetry. In 2019, after a decade with Bowman as founder and president, only 26% of Cornerstone students were proficient in English and only 30% of students were proficient in math — hardly an academic success.

Why, then, is Bowman being considered for New York City schools chancellor? Ideology.

Bowman is a committed socialist, anti-Israel militant and left-wing racialist, who is ready and willing to turn public schools into centers for far-left political propaganda.

For his supporters, the law-breaking, plagiarism and history of academic failure are a small price to pay. The ideology rules.

Dozens of Countries Failed to Make Deals with Trump: Now They're Days Away from Paying the Price

President Donald Trump speaks during an executive order signing ceremony in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.

Unlike the losing contestants on “Let’s Make Deal,” nations that failed to reach trade agreements with President Donald Trump are likely to pay for it — big time.

Trump released an Executive Order on Thursday to impose tariffs on nations that have not used the time since Trump’s April 2 declaration of mass tariffs on trading partners to strike a trade deal with the United States.

Tariff rates vary by country.

Although Trump had previously said tariffs would take effect Friday, Aug. 1, his Thursday order pushed that imposition date on the new tariffs back a week to Aug. 7 for the stragglers trying to make a deal.

Nations, such as China and Mexico, that have been negotiating deals are exempt from the tariffs, for now.

All told. There are 68 nations on the list to face tariffs, per the Associated Press. The European Union is also on the list, although it is working out a deal with Trump

Trump announced this week that last-minute trade agreements had been reached with Pakistan and South Korea.

Trump noted that over the past four months, not all nations have been involved in talks.

“There’s 200 countries,’’ Trump said. “You can’t talk to all of them.’’

Switzerland said it is ready to develop a “negotiated solution” with Trump, according to Reuters.

Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te said the order’s 20 percent tariff rate was “temporary.”

South Africa’s Trade Minister Parks Tau has said he wants “real, practical interventions” to avert the 30 percent tariff.

Trump’s order offered a reminder of why he was focused on tariffs in the first place.

“I found that conditions reflected in large and persistent annual U.S. goods trade deficits constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and economy of the United States that has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States. I declared a national emergency with respect to that threat, and to deal with that threat,” he wrote.

Trump said his focus is on “the continued lack of reciprocity in our bilateral trade relationships and the impact of foreign trading partners’ disparate tariff rates and non-tariff barriers on U.S. exports, the domestic manufacturing base, critical supply chains, and the defense industrial base.”

Speaking in general terms of nations without deals in place, Trump wrote that “trading partners, despite having engaged in negotiations, have offered terms that, in my judgment, do not sufficiently address imbalances in our trading relationship or have failed to align sufficiently with the United States on economic and national-security matters.

“There are also some trading partners that have failed to engage in negotiations with the United States or to take adequate steps to align sufficiently with the United States on economic and national security matters.”

BIG BREAKING: President Trump just deployed two NUCLEAR submarines after comments of Dmitry Medvedev

President Trump just deployed two nuclear submarines after the provocative statements of Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev about Trump’s ultimatum to Putin, saying he hopes Medvedev’s words don’t lead to unintended consequences.

Here’s what Trump wrote:

Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that. Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those instances. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

These are the remarks by Medvedev, in which he basically threatened war:

Bloomberg Reporter Claims President Trump’s Name Redacted in the Epstein Files by the FBI

During a luncheon on the White House on Monday, President Donald Trump explained why he struck Iran when he did.

During a luncheon on the White House on Monday, President Donald Trump explained why he struck Iran when he did.

Another piece by a liberal media outlet alleges that President Trump’s name is in the Epstein files, except his name was redacted on multiple occasions.

This is the latest attempt by the fake news to tie President Trump to Epstein despite the fact that President Trump was NEVER known to perp on young girls. The left is becoming sooo disgusting and pathetic.

Jason Leopold of Bloomberg News says he has sources who have revealed to him that Trump’s name was mentioned several times in the documents, while dozens of other big-name figures also appeared. Leopold did not identify any of the others supposedly in the files.

But FBI personnel decided to black out Trump’s name because he was a private citizen at the time the Epstein investigation was launched nearly two decades ago.

It is important to note that just because Trump was reportedly in the Epstein files DOES NOT mean he did anything illegal. He knew Epstein for a long time before his sordid nature became apparent, after all.

From Leopold:

While reviewing the Epstein files, FBI personnel identified numerous references to Trump in the documents, the people familiar with the matter told me. Dozens of other high-profile public figures also appeared, the people said. (The appearance of Trump’s name or others in the Epstein files is not evidence of a crime or even a suggestion of wrongdoing.)

In preparation for potential public release, the documents then went to a unit of FOIA officers who applied redactions in accordance with the nine exemptions. The people familiar with the matter said that Trump’s name, along with other high-profile individuals, was blacked out because he was a private citizen when the federal investigation of Epstein was launched in 2006.

In particular, the reviewers applied two FOIA exemptions to justify their redactions. The first, Exemption 6, protects individuals against “a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.” The Supreme Court has said the exemption protects “individuals from the injury and embarrassment” that would result from the disclosure of personal information in possession of the government.

The second, Exemption 7(C), protects personal information contained in law enforcement records, the disclosure of which “could reasonably be expected to constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.”

The White House did not respond to the Bloomberg story.

It’s also particularly important to note that common practice for government agencies to redact names on privacy grounds, even for public figures like Trump as Leopold himself acknowledges.

This is at least the second time a left-wing media outlet has claimed Trump is in the Epstein files.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, The Wall Street Journal dropped a Trump-Epstein hit piece last month after the DOJ asked three different courts to unseal grand jury transcripts related to Epstein’s sex trafficking cases.

According to The Wall Street Journal, US Attorney General Pam Bondi told President Trump in May that he is mentioned in the Epstein files.

However, Bondi said the information about the several people who appeared in the Epstein files is “unverified hearsay.”

The Justice Department issued an angry denial, calling The Wall Street Journal report a “collection of falsehoods and innuendo designed to push a bulls*it narrative and drive clicks.”

More Big Moves by the GOP to Hold the House

Speaker Johnson seems to be very optimistic these days, saying the GOP will “defy history when we grow the majority in the House” in 2026.

The Speaker is clearly referencing the announcement of the new Texas GOP redistricting plan for the U.S. House seats in Texas, which was announced recently and could change a 25 Republican to 13 Democrat House delegation edge to a 30 Republican to 8 Democrat edge.  This would be a net gain of 5 seats, if the five new seats that are all pro-Trump by double digits vote Republican.  But a lot depends on whether the Hispanic voters in those districts continue their electoral march towards the GOP.

This is not the only redistricting plan that Johnson may be relying on.  We are also waiting on the Ohio GOP to redistrict, which may net 2 or 3 more seats.  It is also possible that Republicans will redistrict in Indiana, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, New Hampshire and Florida.  Only in Florida could the GOP pick up more than one seat, although it is unlikely to be as big as the possible shift in Texas, as the Republicans currently have a 20 to 8 edge in the Florida delegation.

Democrats, of course, are squawking in fake partisan outrage about the gerrymandering, but, in Texas, the new districts are actually more compact and geographically logical than the old districts were, and the new map includes more Hispanic majority districts as well.  Further, the Democrats themselves have instituted ridiculous gerrymanders in California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Oregon, New Mexico, and Nevada, sometimes by serendipitous means, so it is hard to take their objections seriously.

While Democrats have vowed to respond in their own states, that seems unlikely to accomplish much, with only Maryland’s one GOP district in any real danger.

Anyway, this clearly shows that the GOP is taking a page from the GOP experience in 2002, one time in recent years when the majority party bucked the mid-term curse, by making redistricting a crucial part of the Trump campaign team's plan to hold the U.S. House.

The entire Trump plan now seems to be:

  1. Push GOP redistricting – see above;

  2. Minimize retirements – the Trump team has “steered Republican candidates in House races in Iowa, Michigan and New York” from running for other offices and thus opening up their potentially vulnerable districts;

  3. Spend big – the GOP continues to spend large amounts of money to protect its majority, although not quite as much as the Democrats.  It is unclear how much the affiliated outside groups are spending, though;

  4. Take primary challengers off the table – by endorsing members for their House seats early, Trump is making it hard for another Republican to challenge the incumbent;

  5. Raise gobs more money – the GOP has outraised the Democrats at both the relevant national committees;

  6. Ramp up recruiting;

  7. Push certain issues – taking a page from 1998, the only other recent time the majority party bucked the mid-term curse, the GOP plans to attack House Democrats on impeachment (I am glad I suggested that 😊).  Considering the great hatred emanating from Democrats regarding Trump, it seems likely that many individual Democrat candidates will come out for another impeachment, even though the Senate will never remove the President.

Outside factors also seem to be playing into Speaker Johnson’s optimism.

  • The “U.S. economy grew at a 3% rate in Q2, a better-than-expected pace…”  If this keeps up, and if the U.S. does not get engaged in a long-term conflict – despite the desires of the leftists and the woke right – this makes it unlikely for any blue wave in the House.

  • Circling back to the RCP average, Donald Trump’s approval rating has moved back up to 46.3 percent approval to 51.4 percent disapproval.  So much for the supposed backlash on the One Big Beautiful Bill, the Epstein Scandal, the Iran attack, the firings of federal government workers, the deportations of criminals, etc.  And, as Hot Air and I commented before, the left-leaning pollsters are still up to their old tricks when it comes to polling, so the real average certainly is more favorable to President Trump.

  • The Democrats can’t stop fighting Donald Trump on every issue, including the ‘80/20’ issues that favor him.  The GOP should continue to take advantage of that, especially on immigration issues and deportations.

  • The Democrats also can’t stop hating/ranting against Trump in public, and castigating their own party leadership for not acting as belligerently, despite how off-putting it looks to moderates and non-partisans.  I have belabored this point multiple times in my doom loop series of columns, but here is a Democrat consultant saying the same thing and begging his party to stop acting like loons. I suspect the Democrats won’t learn this lesson in 2026, however (It took them 12 years to learn to stop running outspoken and weak leftists against the GOP in the 1980’s).

  • Strangely enough, after claiming that he was going to challenge Republicans and Democrats with a deficits-do-matter third party, Elon Musk has decided to give much of his money to GOP super PACs.  This is the smart play, although at this point I have no idea what Musk is going to do next, so he certainly could change his strategy again.

Keep in mind that the GOP needs only to limit their losses to two seats in the House to retain control of that chamber (Any additional seats are simply gravy). If the Republicans do pick up a sizable number of seats in redistricting, and there is no recession, considering that the GOP is not in a bad place in the boom-and-bust cycle of the House, this is very doable.

Daily Beast Panics, Deletes Article Claiming President Trump Met Melania Through Jeffrey Epstein

The Daily Beast pulled an article by Michael Wolff claiming President Trump met Melania through Jeffrey Epstein.

The outlet was forced to apologize after First Lady Melania Trump’s attorney contacted them and “challenged the headline and framing of the article.”

“Melania was very involved in this Epstein relationship. There is this model thing, and she’s introduced by a model agent, both of whom Trump and Epstein are involved with. She’s introduced to Trump that way, Epstein knows her well,” Wolff alleged in the since-deleted article.

Melania met Trump at a Fashion Week party in New York City in 1998.

The Daily Beast scrubbed the URL and posted an editor’s note explaining why the article had been deleted.

Fox News reported:

The Daily Beast has pulled an article detailing allegations by journalist Michael Wolff that Melania Trump was introduced to her husband Donald Trump via a modeling agent connected to Jeffrey Epstein, after a challenge from the first lady’s lawyers.

“Editor’s Note. After this story was published, The Beast received a letter from First Lady Melania Trump’s attorney challenging the headline and framing of the article. After reviewing the matter, the Beast has taken down the article and apologizes for any confusion or misunderstanding,” The Daily Beast posted in place of the article. The hyperlink to the article appears to have been amended to : https://www.thedailybeast.com/epstein-this-story-has-been-removed/.

Wolff initially made the scandalous allegations in an interview with Daily Beast chief content officer Joanna Coles for The Daily Beast Podcast, Saturday. The two were discussing Trump’s alleged connections with the disgraced New York financier. The two were friends for many years, but ultimately had a falling out. The president claimed Tuesday that Epstein had been stealing staff from his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan prison while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking of minors charges. Wolff claimed Melania was “very involved in this Epstein relationship.”

Artificial Intelligence Is an Energy Monster

The electricity demand is growing exponentially, thanks in large part to the developing AI industry. With this ever-expanding demand for power, renewable energy can’t meet the need.

Artificial Intelligence demands a lot of energy. For its computing output, AI consumes electricity like the Cookie Monster devouring a bag of chocolate chip cookies.

For example, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Mayor Patrick Collins recently announced a joint venture deal that the city inked between energy company Tallgrass and AI developer Crusoe to build a data center. The data center will initially require 1.8 gigawatts, consuming 15.8 terawatt-hours (TWh) annually to operate, with plans to eventually expand to a full 10 gigawatts, which would consume 87.6 TWh annually. To put that in perspective, the initial phase of 15.8 TWh in electricity is more than five times the total use of every single household in the entire state combined. Furthermore, the eventual planned consumption rate of 87.6 TWh is more than double the power that Wyoming currently generates.

The data center will generate its own electricity via a combination of gas-powered and renewable energy sources, as it would be absolutely unfeasible for the state and its residents otherwise.

Wyoming has become a hub for AI data development because of that state’s high energy production; it currently sells roughly 60% of the energy it generates to other states. Indeed, the state is the third-biggest net energy-producing state, due primarily to its low population, resulting in a low consumption rate.

But Wyoming is not the only state with data centers that are increasingly raising the demand for electricity. At least 13 other states are seeing an increase in electricity demand due to data centers. And when demand for a finite resource increases, the cost of said resource grows. It’s the law of supply and demand.

Thus, people living in these 13 states — Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia — as well as Washington, DC, can expect to see their electric bills increase.

The trouble is, the renewables that the climate change lobby continually touts as the means to fight global warming not only cost more to produce electricity compared to fossil fuel-powered plants, but more significantly, their energy production only makes up a small percentage of overall energy generation in the U.S.

Obviously, the future will require significantly increased energy production to power the Cookie Monster of AI data centers. Far from eliminating fossil fuels, the reality is that energy production in the U.S. must adopt an all-of-the-above approach, with a particular emphasis on a substantial expansion of nuclear power.

Low energy prices are essential for maintaining and expanding economies. America’s energy demand will only continue to increase, and likely more rapidly than in the past, due to the growing power consumption demands from the developing AI industry. And the practical reality is that renewables are not capable of sustaining the nation’s current power demands, let alone a future run by AI.
