US Is Preparing Military Response To Wave Of Iranian-Backed Attacks On Its Forces In Iraq

 Over the past months, attacks on convoys of the US-led coalition moving military equipment and supplies have become an ordinary development in Iraq. Local Iranian-backed resistance groups demanding a US military withdrawal from the country have conducted over two dozen attacks so far. The most recent ones took place on September 22 and 23.

The September 22 attack erupted in the district of al-Dujayl, around 60 km to the north of Baghdad. According to Iraq’s Security Media Cell, the convoy was targeted with an improvised explosive device. No casualties were reported. On the afternoon of September 23, a second supply convoy of the U.S.-led coalition was targeted in the district of Awja, more than 160 km north of Baghdad.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq (also known as Ashab al-Kahf) claimed responsibility for the September 23 incident saying that several military vehicles belonging to British forces were damaged. Meanwhile, another group, the Breaker of Titans Company (Saryat Qasim al-Jabbarin), said that it had attacked coalition convoys near the town of Hillah in Babylon province and in the district of Abu Ghraib west of Baghdad. In an official statement, the group claimed that it will continue attacks until U.S. forces are expelled from Iraq.

While regular attacks on supply convoys of the Coalition cause apparent media jitters, they have not caused any notable damage to the coalition forces themselves. Logistical and supply convoys are often operated by private military contractors and local forces affiliated with or just hired by the coalition.

The US military still has a strong presence at its fortified positions and remaining bases in central and northern Iraq. This year the Pentagon even reinforced the security of its forces by deploying Patriot surface-to-air missile and C-RAM (counter rocket, artillery, and mortar) systems. The C-RAM is now regularly employed to protect the US embassy area in Baghdad’s Green Zone from rocket strikes.

The US military has been also conducting active reconnaissance and electronic warfare operations to detect and suppress infrastructure of Iranian-backed forces working against its interests in the region. On September 24, a U.S. EC-130H Compass Call “electronic attack” aircraft was spotted over the southern and eastern regions of Iraq. The aircraft took off on September 24 from the Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi. After crossing the Persian Gulf, the aircraft entered Iraq’s airspace and flew between the southern province of Basrah and the eastern city of Kut in a line parallel to the Iraqi-Iranian border.

The Compass Call is a heavily modified version of the C-130 Hercules developed to disrupt enemy command and control communications, perform offensive counter-information operations and carry out other kinds of electronic attacks. The U.S. Air Force’s EC-130Hs carry out missions over the Persian Gulf on a regular basis. Nevertheless, previously they rarely flew over Iraq.

Pro-Iranian sources claim that the increased US military and intelligence activity near Iranian borders are an indication of the US-Israeli preparations for aggressive actions in Iran. Despite this, in the current conditions, an open Iranian-US conflict in the Persian Gulf region in the near future remains an unlikely scenario. At the same time, the proxy conflict between Iranian-led forces and the US-Israeli-led bloc have been escalating.

African Migrant Bites Police Officer in Court

An African migrant in court for assaulting a policewoman is said to have assaulted two more police officers while making his court appearance.

A 21-year-old Sudanese migrant was tried in a court in Nantes earlier this week for assaulting a female police officer at a train station on August 20th.

The man resisted attempts to make him wear a medical mask to stop the potential spread of the Wuhan virus and is said to have attacked two police officers in the courtroom itself, broadcaster France Info reports.

The broadcaster noted that the 21-year-old elbowed a female officer in the head while in the police station and after the judge had sentenced the man to eight months in prison for his first assault, he ripped a microphone from the stand, hit one officer and bit another officer in the leg.

Both of the officers injured by the man in the courtroom had to be taken to a nearby hospital as they required stitches for their wounds.

Attacks on police have become increasingly common across France in recent months, whether the attacks have come from violent urban youths, radical Islamic militants, or asylum seekers.

In May, a Chechen migrant in the commune of Montereau-Fault-Yonne dragged a police officer over sixty feet with his vehicle and narrowly missed hitting another officer on the scene.

The migrant later claimed he did not live in the area and wanted to avoid a coronavirus check.

 

During the coronavirus lockdown, many French neighbourhoods saw rioting, provoked by alleged cases of police brutality.

During multi-night riots in May, for example, police in the commune of Romans-sur-Isère were pelted with rocks and hit with fireworks.Around the same time in the city of Lyon, another officer was attacked and suffered a head injury after a rock hit him in the head.

DOJ: Illegal Alien ISIS-Supporter Ambushed NYPD Officers in Knife Attack

An illegal alien, who allegedly sympathizes with Islamic State (ISIS) terrorism, has been indicted for allegedly ambushing New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers in a knife attack in Brooklyn, New York.

Dzenan Camovic, an illegal alien from Bosnia, was indicted on charges of Hobbs Act robbery, using and discharging a firearm, theft of a firearm that moved in interstate commerce, and unlawful possession of a firearm as an illegal alien after he allegedly attacked three NYPD officers and fired gunshots at others.

“He had no legal immigration status in the United States, and knew that he was an alien unlawfully in the United States,” the indictment details.

According to the unsealed Department of Justice (DOJ) indictment, on June 3 at 11:30 p.m., Camovic walked past two NYPD officers and crouched down for a period of time while watching them. Then, Camovic turned the corner and approached the two NYPD officers before stabbing officer Yayon Frantz Jean Pierre in the neck, the indictment alleges.

Camovic then chased officer Randy Ramnarine in an attempt to stab him as well, according to the indictment, before running back to attack Jean Pierre and take his gun from him. Camovic, the indictment states, shot multiple times at Ramnarine, catching him in the hand, before other NYPD officers arrived to take the illegal alien into custody.

A number of NYPD officers were wounded in the attack. Camovic, the indictment states, repeatedly shouted the phrase “Allahu Akbar” while allegedly attacking the officers, a phrase commonly used by violent jihadists in the midst of carrying out terrorist attacks.

In addition, DOJ investigators said Camovic was in possession of radical jihadist propaganda in support of ISIS prior to the attack.

Attorney General William Barr said in a statement:

We know that he possessed a significant volume of materials that demonstrates his interest in and support for violent Islamist extremism, including materials related to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham. But the defendant’s access to the dark web and his use of encrypted communication platforms have created evidentiary roadblocks to fully learning his plans and potential co-conspirators.

Camovic is in New York state custody and will be arraigned at a later date. It remains unclear how Camovic first arrived in the U.S. — whether illegally crossing borders or overstaying a visa.

Report: Biden Aides Apologize to Prominent Israel Hater

Officials with Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaign reportedly offered private apologies to anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour after labeling her an anti-Semite in a bid to distance the campaign from Israel critics. The apology comes after Sarsour touted her ability to push Biden and his team into embracing anti-Israel policies, telling a Facebook audience that she would "force Biden to change his views."

The Biden campaign criticized Sarsour last week after her appearance at the Democratic National Convention's Muslim Delegates Assembly.

Sarsour, an anti-Israel activist and supporter of boycotts against the Jewish state, previously served as a surrogate for Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. Biden spokeswoman Ashley Allison apologized for the campaign's treatment of Sarsour in an off-the-record call held over the weekend.

"I am sorry that that happened," she told supporters, according to the Middle East Eye. "And I hope that whatever trust was broken, that this conversation is one small step to help build back the trust, but that is not the last time we have this conversation."

Tony Blinken, a top Biden foreign policy adviser, also reportedly expressed "regret" during the call about how Sarsour was treated.

The Biden campaign said in a statement on Monday that, while it regretted any "hurt that was caused" by its original statement, it nonetheless rejects Sarsour's views.

Symone Sanders, a top Biden spokeswoman, characterized the call was intended to "affirm Vice President Biden's unshakeable commitment to working with Arab, Palestinian, and Muslim Americans and to standing up against anti-Muslim prejudice, and to make clear that we regretted any hurt that was caused to these communities," but insisted that the the campaign "reject[s] the the views that Linda Sarsour has expressed."

Sarsour has been a lightning rod in the Democratic Party due to her harsh criticism of Israel and support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to wage economic warfare on Israel. Sarsour was booted from the Women’s March last year over anti-Israel comments that many viewed as anti-Semitic. Biden has been a staunch Israel supporter over the years and his campaign has undertaken efforts to isolate itself from anti-Israel voices on the Democratic Party’s far left. The campaign’s subsequent apology highlights the sway these voices currently hold over the party.

In April, Sarsour discussed her behind-the-scenes effort to push Biden and his advisers into adopting more anti-Israel views.

Sarsour said in a Facebook discussion that she would "force [Biden] to change his views" on the issue of Israel and Palestine.

"We can move Biden on a lot more issues," she said, advocating a pressure campaign to force the presidential candidate into more openly criticizing the Jewish state. Pressure, she said, "is the way we're going to have to operate."

The comments from Allison and Blinken mark a reversal for the Biden campaign. Biden spokesman Andrew Bates initially sought to distance the campaign from Sarsour last week, saying, "she has no role in the Biden campaign whatsoever."

"Joe Biden has been a strong supporter of Israel and a vehement opponent of anti-Semitism his entire life, and he obviously condemns her views and opposes BDS," Bates said.

Cleveland Clinic Resident Loses Medical License Over Anti-Semitic Tweets

 Lara Kollab, a former resident at a Cleveland medical clinic, had her license revoked since the exposure of her tweets threatening Jewish lives over a year ago. 

The State Medical Board of Ohio permanently revoked the medical training certificate of a former Cleveland Clinic resident who posted virulently anti-Semitic comments and threats on social media, cleveland.com reported on Saturday.

“Lara Kollab agreed to surrender her certificate before the medical board revoked it Aug. 12, records say,” according to the local website.

Kollab is permanently prohibited from practicing osteopathic medicine or surgery in the state of Ohio or from participating in any other medical training program, the agreement says.

In a tweet posted in 2013, for instance, Kollab wrote: “People who support Israel should have their immune cells killed so they can see how it feels to not be able to defend yourself from foreign invaders.”

The tweets were publicized towards the end of 2018 by Canary Mission, a website dedicated to monitoring anti-Semitism among anti-Israel activists in North America. “Lara Kollab has called for violence against Jews, spread anti-Semitism, trivialized the Holocaust, defended the terror organization Hamas, and supported terrorists on Twitter,” the Canary Mission reported.

On December 31, the Cleveland Clinic announced that it had severed ties with Kollab, who was employed there from July to September 2018.

In a formal complaint filed with the Ohio State Board of Medical Examiners, following the revelations, Jay Sekulow, head of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) and an attorney for President Donald Trump, wrote on behalf of the ACLJ and the Zionist Organization of America that Kollab should be stripped of her license.

Sekulow described Kollab as “unfit to practice medicine” because of her comments, posted between 2011 and 2017. In 2012, for example, she wrote that she would “purposely give all the yahood [Jews] the wrong meds.” That same year, Kollab called for the “defeat” of “the Zionist state through force.”

Sekulow’s letter of complaint was dated January 4, 2019, the same day that Kollab released a statement of apology through her attorney.

“I wish sincerely and unequivocally to apologize for the offensive and hurtful language contained in those posts. These posts were made years before I was accepted into medical school, when I was a naïve,and impressionable girl barely out of high school. I matured into a young adult during the years I attended college and medical school, and adopted strong values of inclusion, tolerance, and humanity,” Kollab, then 27, said.

“This statement is not intended to excuse the content of the posts, but rather to demonstrate that those words do not represent who I am and the principles I stand for today,” she added.

The medical board also cited Kollab for claiming she was being framed by Canary Mission, an organization that works to expose anti-Semitic views, according to cleveland.com. Furthermore, the site continues, when applying for another job at Kern Medical Center in California, Kollab claimed she had resigned from the Cleveland clinic rather than disclosing that she was fired.

Several organizations, including United with Israel, have demanded that Kollab’s certificate be revoked.

Mounting Evidence Points to Hezbollah Culpability in Beirut Blast

 Hezbollah’s central role in Lebanon’s affairs precludes any conclusion but guilt.

Within an hour of the massive explosion that rocked Beirut on August 4, Hezbollah denied any culpability. Lebanon’s president, Michel Aoun, considered a close Hezbollah ally, immediately attributed the blast to the presence of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate that ignited after a nearby warehouse housing fireworks caught fire. Lebanese authorities claim that the ammonium nitrate was confiscated from a Russian cargo vessel in 2013 after the ship took a detour from its original destination and docked at the port.

The ammonium nitrate, which can be used to make explosives, was stored at the port for seven years before it blew up with catastrophic consequences. There is ample reason to believe that Hezbollah was responsible for the blast and resulting carnage. The collective evidence is in fact, damning.

First, one must understand that in Lebanon, Hezbollah controls all ports of entry, either directly through force of arms or indirectly, through graft. The obvious purpose is to control the flow of weapons, money and narcotics that pass through these ports of entry. Therefore, it is logical to assume that Hezbollah was aware of the presence of the ammonium nitrate.

In 2008 the Lebanese cabinet headed by the Western-backed Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, attempted to remove security cameras installed by Hezbollah at Beirut International Airport. The cabinet also attempted to remove Brigadier General Wafiq Shkeir, widely regarded as a Hezbollah stooge, from his post as airport security chief. Finally, the government attempted to close separate telecommunication infrastructure that Hezbollah was installing throughout the country.

Hezbollah responded to the cabinet’s challenge with overwhelming military force, imposing its will on the government. The government collapsed and Siniora was forced to resign. From that point on, Hezbollah ceased to be a mini state within Lebanon. Rather it was Lebanon that was transformed into a mini state within Hezbollah.

Second, the swiftness of denials from Hezbollah officials in connection with the blast brings to mind the alacrity with which Iranian authorities denied any culpability in the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752. In both cases, bad actors were laying the groundwork for a cover-up. Hezbollah is also opposing efforts to internationalize the investigation, in what appears to be a blatant attempt to thwart transparency.

Third, Hezbollah has in the past attempted to use ammonium nitrate in preparatory stages for attacks against Western targets.  Ammonium nitrate stashes linked to Hezbollah were found in London, Cyprus and southern Germany. In the latter case, the stockpiles were uncovered with the help of the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence service. British authorities stated that their operation was aided by “international partners.” In 2016, Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, threatened to target ammonia storage tanks located in Israel’s third largest city of Haifa. The terror leader stated that the resulting explosion from such an attack would be akin to a nuclear bomb, chuckling as he discussed the matter.  

Fourth, the Jerusalem Post’s Seth Frantzman notes that Hezbollah has imported thousands of tons of ammonium nitrate from Syria. Hezbollah worked hard to secure Lebanon’s agricultural ministry for itself to make it easier for the group to acquire the material. It’s clear that Hezbollah was cognizant of ammonium nitrate’s usefulness as a terror weapon and sought to use it for malign activities. It is also a good bet that the ammonium nitrate that exploded on August 4 was requisitioned by Hezbollah.

There are a few more components to this story that cast further suspicion on Hezbollah. Hezbollah has been known to house its munitions in the midst of civilian areas. In 2018, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an address to the UN General Assembly, highlighted areas on a map of Beirut where Hezbollah was storing missiles and other munitions. He noted that one such facility was adjacent to the shoreline.

Following the Beirut explosion, videos began circulating showing the presence of subterranean tunnels that were uncovered as a result of the blast. A reporter from Sky News described what she saw as a “labyrinth of subterranean tunnels.” There could have been a benign explanation for the presence of the tunnels but the Lebanese Army, which acts as an auxiliary force for Hezbollah, quickly denied the presence of any tunnels, leading to suspicion that the tunnels had a more malign purpose, such as to store military hardware.

This theory was bolstered by seismological data suggesting that the Beirut blast was preceded by a series of six explosions, five of which were characterized as being consistent with munitions detonations. Boaz Hayoun, a former military engineering officer and explosives expert said that he compiled the seismic data from an array of sensors. Moreover, Hayoun noted that the 140-foot deep crater left by the blast could not have been accomplished solely by the amount of ammonium nitrate reported by Lebanese authorities.

Lebanon is a failed state that has been subsumed by Hezbollah and by extension, Iran. The explosion that leveled much of Beirut and wreaked so much devastation is a mere symptom of a malignant disease, and the disease is Hezbollah.

Ariana Grande Concert Terror Bombing Plotter Sentenced to Minimum of 55 Years in Prison

 

Hashem Abedi, convicted of 22 murders for his part in his brother Salman’s suicide bombing of the Manchester Arena in 2017, has been sentenced to a minimum of 55 years in prison.

The radical Islamic terrorist, 23, was convicted of 22 counts of murder for organising the attack on the Ariana Grande concert with his brother in March, having been extradited from Libya to stand trial.

The Abedis’ father, a member of the Salafi jihadist Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, came to Britain as a refugee, but returned with his family after Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s overthrow in a botched Western intervention championed by Barack Obama and David Cameron.

The brothers were brought to Britain by the Royal Navy in an evacuation operation in 2014 as the North African country descended into warlordism, allowing Salman to carry out his attack — although Hashem ultimately made his way back again.

“The stark reality is these were atrocious crimes; large in scale, deadly in intent, appalling in their consequences,” sentencing judge Jeremy Baker said of the Manchester murders, saying Hashem Abedi was “equally culpable” as his suicide bomber brother for the attack.

“The despair and desolation of the bereaved families has been palpable,” Baker added — although Abedi himself was not present for either the victim impact statements or sentencing in court, having refused to leave his cell.

It is not known if he will be subject to contempt of court proceedings for his actions.

Abedi could not be given a whole-life sentence, according to the judge and prosecutors, as Labour era legislation which the Conservatives have not changed prohibits such sentences for convicts under the age of 21 at the time of their crimes, and Abedi was a few months shy of his 21st birthday when the Manchester bombing took place.

He will not necessarily be released after 55 years, as it will be open to the authorities to deny his parole.

However, the Parole Board has released people convicted of shocking crimes before, such as triple child murderer David ‘The Monster of Worcester’ McGreavy, who was freed in 2019 without the mother of his victims being consulted.

Court Rules That Criticism of Islam is Still Legal in the U.S. (For Now)

You may recall Nicholas Damask. He is the Scottsdale Community College (SCC) professor about whom I wrote here at PJ Media several weeks ago when Muslim students threatened his life for observing that Islam teaches violence. After that, instead of rebuking the Muslims who threatened Damask, the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed suit against the college for daring to teach unpopular and unwelcome truths about Islam and terrorism.

Democratic National Convention hosts racist imam who advocates for the use of female sex slaves

Texas-based Qalam Institute officials have advocated “the use of female sex slaves, the killing of adulterers, and incite hatred against Jews and other non-Muslims.”

The Democratic National Convention hosted an imam from an Islamic extremist institution on Sunday.

Noman Hussain, imam of ISM Brookfield in Wisconsin, was one of the religious leaders who took part in the convention’s “Interfaith Welcome Service.”
Hussain is a scholar at the Texas-based Qalam Institute, whose officials have advocated “the use of female sex slaves, the killing of adulterers, and incite hatred against Jews and other non-Muslims,” according to the Middle East Forum.


One of the Qalam Institute’s courses, “The Prophetic Code,” warns Muslims to strive for “cleanliness” and “purity,” so that they “do not resemble the Jews.”

The Democratic National Convention did not respond to a request for comment about Hussain’s affiliation with the Qalam Institute.

In 2012, Hussain shared a cartoon of an Israeli soldier appearing innocent on TV without it showing the soldier mercilessly shooting people in Gaza.

Middle East analyst and human-rights lawyer Irina Tsukerman told JNS that the Democratic National Convention’s inclusion of Hussain was “extremely troubling.”

“This reflects the concerning and growing trend within the Democratic Party to equate Islamists with Muslims, who are generally de-platformed, silenced, intimidated or targeted by pro-Muslim Brotherhood organizations, and to present these fringe elements as the mainstream in Islam, perpetuating ugly stereotypes about Muslim communities and promoting and fostering radicals, which becomes a self-perpetuating cycle,” she said.

“This also raises questions about the Democratic Party’s willingness to pander to hateful groups and to excuse extremist ideologies, instead of seeking out and building relationships to those preachers and imams in the Muslim world who have a record of opposing this hateful political ideology, which uses religion as a tool of subversion,” she continued.

Other religious leaders included in the virtual interfaith service were Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah in New York. She was one of nine left-wing rabbis to endorse the 2019 Women’s March after meeting with organizers Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory amid criticisms of anti-Semitism in the movement.
