Sean Duffy's Son-In-Law, 26, Beats AOC to Become Youngest Congressman

 Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's 26-year-old son-in-law, Republican Michael Alfonso, is set to make history as the youngest member of Congress.

Alfonso won approximately 56 percent of the vote in Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District, inheriting the seat after Republican Tom Tiffany vacated it to run for governor, ultimately losing.

The Associated Press called the race for Alfonso at around 10pm, with unofficial results showing him leading Democrat Fred Clark 56.1 percent to 43.9 percent with 79 percent of the vote counted.

His victory means he will enter Congress younger than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was when she first won the election in 2018, aged 29. 

Ocasio-Cortez had already lost her title as the youngest member of Congress to Democrat Maxwell Frost in 2022, now 29, when he was elected at just 25. 

Alfonso will now take that title from Frost. 

Alfonso, who is married to Duffy's daughter Evita, will be the first member of Congress born in the 2000s.

Alfonso married Evita Duffy, daughter of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Rachel Campos-Duffy, on June 24 2022, at one of President Trump's golf courses in New Jersey.

Despite questions about his age and experience, Alfonso made his youth a central part of his pitch to voters and promoted the president's agenda.

Alfonso's campaign benefited from $1 million transferred from Duffy's former congressional campaign account to a political action committee supporting his candidacy
