CNN conservative analyst Scott Jennings explained after Tuesday’s blue-wave election why Republicans need not fret despite having suffered such heavy losses throughout the country.
Speaking with a panel of CNN leftists right after the election concluded, Jennings offered up a “silver lining” to help keep Republican optimism alive heading into 2028.
The “silver lining” was all about past elections — namely the 2010 election, when Republicans crushed then-President Barack Obama’s coalition.
“To pick out a silver lining, look back at 2010,” Jennings insisted. “The Democrats in the White House… took a bit of a shellacking, I think President Obama called it.”
Indeed, Republicans gained 63 House seats and six Senate seats.
Despite Obama’s big losses, he was able to bounce back.
“He turned right around and learned from it, and ended up getting reelected in 2012,” Jennings explained. “There’s a way to learn from nights like this. That’s what the Republicans are going to have to do.”
In other words, Republicans need to stop crying about their massive election losses and start focusing on 2028.
“Democrats are going to celebrate tonight, but Republicans have to wake up tomorrow and realize that, you know, a great thing about America is there’s always another election,” Jennings continued.
He’s right. And in fact, outgoing House Speaker Mike Johnson has already vowed to retake the House come 2028.
“In fact, you know what we do?” he continued. “We double down. We double down. We will continue pressing forward with our agenda of commonsense and our vision to make America great again. And come 2028, we will take back the House and we will finish this job, all right?”Jared Dillian, the founder and principal of Armington Capital, seems to have predicted the same comeback.
“Nobody wants to hear this, but this is the best possible outcome for Republicans in 2028,” he wrote on social media after Tuesday’s election.
Others responded by predicting that Democrats will screw up their current advantage by wasting time on “impeachments and woke nonsense,” causing the public to turn against them.
Now, this doesn’t mean recapturing power will be easy.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a stalwart Republican, warned on social media that because of the Democrats’ impressive performance in the Senate, Republicans may not have a chance to retake the upper chamber for many years. While this is true, all we need to do in 2028 to maintain some semblance of control and keep Democrats from ruining our country is keep the White House or recapture the House.
So long as Democrats do not control the White House, the House, and the Senate at the same time, we still have something to fight for.
The point is that all hope isn’t lost yet, so put on your boots, pull up your pants, and get ready to rumble, because the battle is long from over.
