At least nine people are feared dead after a $2 million private jet crashed into a South Florida mobile home park — apparently demolishing at least one trailer in a massive fireball.
Nine people were on board the Learjet 60 en route from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas when it crashed into a massive fireball, the FAA said.
Authorities say there are “multiple fatalities” and have not yet confirmed how many people, including those on the ground, were killed or injured.
The plane, which had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas, took a sharp right turn before nosediving from 8,000 feet into the ground, BocaNewsNow reported.
The plane clipped a tree and brought down power lines in a crash so loud “it sounded like a missile” shortly after 1 p.m. in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Aviation 24/7 reported.
Sashcam footage shows the moment the plane rocketed into the ground, triggering an enormous fireball.

The crash was described as a “mass casualty incident” by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, although no further details were given on how many people were in the aircraft at the time or in the mobile home.
It was headed to the Bahamas at the time of the crash.
Multiple roads have been closed around the scene for the foreseeable future, with drivers ordered to avoid the area, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Greenacres is a community for modular and mobile homes just outside Palm Springs.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
