*Indictment watch*
A federal judge on Thursday dismissed former CIA Director John Brennan’s lawsuit seeking to force the Trump Administration to preserve records for his defense in the Spygate case.
US District Judge Jia Cobb, a Biden appointee, said Brennan lacked standing.
Brennan’s lawyers argued that the Justice Department’s case against him amounts to “vindictive prosecution” and political retaliation.
Judge Cobb found that Brennan had not shown that the records were being destroyed.
Brennan is testifying today in the DOJ’s sprawling Spygate investigation.
In the summer of 2025, it was reported that former FBI Director James Comey and John Brennan were under FBI investigation over their involvement in Russiagate.
John Brennan is the “target” of the grand jury Russiagate probe in South Florida.
Last month, Joe DiGenova, a former US Attorney under Reagan, was tapped to oversee the Spygate probe in Florida, resigned; however, the investigation is still going full steam ahead, according to prosecutors.
Brennan’s attorney was informed that the former CIA Director is under investigation over whether he made false statements to Congress in 2023.
John Brennan was also separately referred for prosecution by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan.
Chairman Jordan referred Brennan to the DOJ for knowingly making false statements during a May 2023 interview with the House Judiciary Committee.
