Israel denounces “condom flotilla” after multiple seized vessels were found to contain no actual humanitarian aid.
Gaza flotilla vessels seized by Israel en route to the Gaza Strip were found to be carrying no humanitarian aid, Israel said overnight.
Twenty-one vessels were intercepted, boarded and seized by Israeli security personnel late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. Roughly 175 activists were detained during the operation.
The operation was carried out by the Israeli Navy, in cooperation with the Israeli Air Force, more than 1,000 kilometers (625 miles) off the coast of Israel.
The seizures were carried out within a matter of hours, with no violence reported on any of the vessels.
Israeli forces are preparing to seize additional inbound vessels carrying hundreds of anti-Israel activists.
While the Global Sumud Flotilla, the international organization that organized the pro-Hamas flotilla, claimed that the vessels were carrying medical aid to the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces that boarded the vessels found no aid whatsoever, Israel’s Foreign Ministry said Wednesday night.
“Like previous provocations, this is nothing but a PR stunt: a provocation without humanitarian aid,” the ministry said. “As international media have exposed, these are professional provocateurs on pleasure cruises, addicted to self-promotion.”
Israel said that Hamas had orchestrated the flotilla in conjunction with foreign activists.
“The driving force behind the flotilla provocation is Hamas – joining hands with professional provocateurs – with the aim of sabotaging President Trump’s peace plan transition to its second phase and intended to divert attention from Hamas’s refusal to disarm.”
The Foreign Ministry statement noted that since the October 2025 ceasefire, the Gaza Strip has been “flooded” with “enormous quantities of humanitarian aid.”
“Since October 2025 alone, over 1.5 million tons of humanitarian aid and thousands of tons of medical equipment have entered the Strip.”
While no aid was found on the seized vessels, Israeli forces did locate condoms and illicit substances.
“This is the ‘medical aid’ found aboard the PR stunt flotilla: condoms and drugs,” the Foreign Ministry said, publishing a video of some of the items found on a flotilla vessel.
On Thursday morning, the Foreign Ministry mocked the pro-Hamas activists involved in the attempt to reach Gaza, calling it the “condom flotilla.”
