Virginia Democrats Want Schools To Push State-Enforced Homosexuality

Virginia Democrats want to teach schoolchildren to “affirm” gay and “transgender” propaganda as part of their new “inclusive history” proposal.

bill proposal from Democrat Del. Sam Rasoul would require history and social studies courses taught at public schools would be required to push the “contributions, perspectives, and experiences of historically marginalized communities, including racial and ethnic minorities; immigrants and refugees; women; individuals with disabilities; individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+); individuals from various socioeconomic statuses; individuals from various religious backgrounds; and any other group of individuals that the Board of Education deems appropriate.”

The Virginia Board of Education would be charged to “adopt and enforce” the policy, which the bill states is necessary to “affirm such communities and promote a more holistic understanding of history.” The new propaganda would need to be pushed “across curricula.”

All textbooks and instructional material would be required to advance the left-wing narrative, including specific materials “for observances such as Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Disability History and Awareness Month, [and] LGBTQ+ History Month.”

In addition to classroom materials, the board would need to obtain the opinions of so-called “subject matter experts who represent marginalized communities.”

As Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito noted in the majority opinion for Mahmoud v. Taylor, a case about parents’ abilities to opt their children out of “transgender” propaganda in schools, these types of materials are not neutral by any means.

“They are clearly designed to present certain values and beliefs as things to be celebrated and certain contrary values and beliefs as things to be rejected,” Alito wrote.

The same phenomenon is true with racialized curricula and ideologies like critical race theory, which are designed to advance the message that being white is inherently evil, and being any other race is both more valuable and should be celebrated.

Virginia Democrats are planning other propaganda in schools as well. As The Federalist reported, another bill would control the narrative on the Jan. 6 protests at the U.S. Capitol, and require such protests to be described as an “insurrection” and an “unprecedented, violent attack on United States democratic institutions, infrastructure, and representatives for the purpose of overturning the results of the 2020 presidential election.” It would also place a gag order on teachers, preventing them from bringing in other perspectives on Jan. 6.

Virginians who came out in numbers to vote for former Gov. Glenn Youngkin, R-Va., in 2021 and President Donald Trump in 2024 but decided to stay home in 2025 are about to be bludgeoned by their inactivity now — particularly in light of the fact that Youngkin’s victory was almost entirely due to left-wing radicalism in school curricula.

While fewer people showed up to vote in the 2021 election overall, Youngkin received 1,663,596 votes. Three years later, Trump received 2,075,085. But in 2025, Republican candidate Winsome Earle-Sears only got 1,449,586, versus Abigail Spanberger’s 1,976,857.

Lower turnout in off-year elections is typical, but if everyone who voted for Trump had come out to vote for Earle-Sears, Democrats would not be running roughshod over Virginia right now.
