A clip from Michelle Obama’s new podcast IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson has reignited longstanding questions about her gender — and some massive trolling.
In the clip, Obama is speaking to her guest about raising a child who is “transgender,” which warms her heart, “particularly as a black man, you know?” While she appears to be addressing the guest, the internet ran wild with the clip.
The comment was made on the April 30th episode, featuring guests Damon and Marlon Wayans, the latter of whom has a transgender child.
The rumors about Michelle Obama’s gender went mainstream in 2014 when comedian Joan Rivers, shortly before her death, told a TMZ reporter that Michelle Obama was transgender.
In 2023, Marlon Wayans revealed that his oldest daughter, a biological female, was “transgender” and identified as male.
“I have a daughter that transitioned into a son,” Marlon Wayans said on an episode of The Breakfast Club. “My daughter Amai is now Kai.”
The Obama podcast featured discussions about raising children “through challenges.”
The show, which is hosted by the former “First Lady” and her brother, is billed as candid discussions on life, relationships, and current events. However, despite an insane amount of media attention, it has struggled to gain viewers.
On YouTube, podcast viewers have plummeted from 335,000 for the debut episode to around 60,000 for subsequent episodes.
