Sources told the Times that Paramount’s controlling shareholder “strongly supports the effort to settle.”
Paramount is reportedly having conversations with President Donald Trump to settle a $10 billion lawsuit filed by the president against "60 Minutes" and CBS News.
Executives at Paramount predict that if they settle the lawsuit, Trump's administration won't stop the studio's upcoming merger with the media company Skydance, according to The New York Times.
Sources told the Times that Paramount’s controlling shareholder “strongly supports the effort to settle.”
Paramount owns CBS and if the lawsuit is settled, it will be added to a list of corporations that have recently settled with Trump such as Meta and ABC News.
Trump filed a lawsuit against CBS in October of last year, accusing the network of “deceptive doctoring” on a segment of then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump alleged the network used “news distortion” to favor the Democratic Party during the 2024 election, according to Yahoo News.
