Biden Vows to Send Another $8 Billion to Ukraine after Zelensky Campaigned for Democrats

Lame-duck President Joe Biden has promised to send another $8 billion in taxpayer-funded military assistance to Ukraine after Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky recently traveled to the U.S. to campaign for Democrat candidates.

Earlier this week, Zelensky was accused of election interference for smearing the Republican presidential ticket, as Slay News reported.

He also traveled to the battleground state of Pennsylvania where he appeared to campaign for Democrats.

Zelensky, who is supposedly fighting a war with Russia in his home nation, made an appearance with Democrats at an ammunition factory.

The Ukrainian leader’s appearance at the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant comes after he trashed President Donald Trump and his running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

He blasted Trump and Vance during an interview with the New Yorker.

“My feeling is that Trump doesn’t really know how to stop the war even if he might think he knows how,” he said while he was still in Ukraine.

“With this war, oftentimes, the deeper you look at it the less you understand.”

Zelensky said that Vance was “too radical” because the Republican vice presidential candidate believes that Ukraine must “make a sacrifice.”

He complained that Vance believed it would be better to avoid World War Three by letting Ukraine lose some of its territory to Russia and bring the conflict to an end.

Zelensky told the outlet that he believes Vance or any other leader of the U.S. who endorses the idea that wars should be ended by giving in to aggressors “should be held responsible for potentially starting a global war.”

“Because such a person would be implying that this kind of behavior is acceptable,” he said.

Zelensky was flown to Pennsylvania by the taxpayer-funded U.S. Air Force.

According to a video Zelensky posted on X, he was treated by Pennsylvania’s Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro on the tarmac.

He also signed an artillery shell that was being shipped to Ukraine.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) blasted Zelensky’s tour of a facility in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with Shapiro and Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA).

“The facility was in a politically contested battleground state, was led by a top political surrogate for Kamala Harris, and failed to include a single Republican because – on purpose – no Republicans were invited,” Johnson wrote in a letter to Zelensky.

“The tour was clearly a partisan campaign event designed to help Democrats and is clearly election interference.”

The House speaker also demanded that Zelensky “immediately fire Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova.”

Johnson argues that Markarova can no longer “fairly and effectively serve as a diplomat in this country.”

The new round of military aid for Ukraine will include a shipment of medium-range precision-guided glide bombs that will allow Ukrainian forces to fire upon Russian soldiers from safer distances, Reuters reported.

A U.S. official said that Biden would not be giving Ukraine the green light to fire missiles at targets deep inside Russia.

The latest U.S. assistance package for Ukraine will provide more training for Ukrainian pilots flying American-made F-16s.

According to Reuters, Biden also said that the $8 billion assistance would give Ukraine another Patriot air defense battery and more Patriot missiles

Zelensky thanked the U.S. for the new package, saying it would be used “in the most efficient and transparent manner.”

The U.S. is far outpacing all other countries in military assistance and continues to be Ukraine’s largest supporter.

According to a report from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the U.S. has committed more than $50 billion in military support for Ukraine from just before the war began through June of this year.

Germany, which has offered the second-largest amount of military support for Ukraine, has committed just over $10 billion in aid over the same period.

As it stands, there is no end in sight for the war and no strategy in place for ending the conflict.
