In a move reportedly unprecedented worldwide, Kyle Merritt, a doctor in British Columbia, chose to diagnose one of his patients with “climate change.”
The elderly woman, who was the first person in the world to be given the political diagnosis, has asthma, which the doctor said was worsened by the west coast heatwave during the summer.
“If we’re not looking at the underlying cause, and we’re just treating the symptoms, we’re just gonna keep falling further and further behind,” Dr. Merritt insisted in his comments to Glacier Media. Adding to Castlegar News that he doesn’t think “people realize the impacts of environmental degradation and climate change on human health.”
The doctor’s diagnosis could lead to a trend of similar labeling of illnesses and deaths as being caused by “climate change.” This is a disturbing development because it may lead many to believe that climate change is an indisputable fact, which is far from accurate.
Politicians and media are quick to claim that all extreme and somewhat unusual weather events are “climate change.” If doctors were to begin diagnosing en-masse people who are affected by the weather, there would be a formidable amount of fabricated “proof” to convince the population that our world is truly experiencing an ecological emergency.
The mainstream media, together with climate scientists, have called on countries like Australia to add “climate change” to death certificates.
A study from The Lancet Planetary Health has insisted that “death certification needs to be modernized” to include death by climate change.
“We can make a diagnosis of disease like coronavirus, but we are less literate in environmental determinants like hot weather or bushfire smoke,” one of the studies authors said, claiming that “climate change is the single greatest health threat that we face globally even after we recover from coronavirus.”
Considering the chain of events that sprung from the coronavirus, and specifically, the massive blow to personal liberties that resulted, how might governments exploit a daily list of “climate deaths” and “climate hospitalizations”?
The clear climate activism of the doctor in British Columbia does not stop with his diagnosis. He recently formed a group consisting of 40 of his colleagues called “Doctors and Nurses For Planetary Health.”
The group held an event earlier this month in which they called on the government to declare an “ecological emergency,” according to Rebel News.
According to ClimateEmergencyDeclaration.org, “2,044 jurisdictions in 37 countries have declared a climate emergency.” On Tuesday, Calgary, a Canadian city in Alberta, joined in, voting 13-2 in favor of declaring a “climate emergency.”
In the United States, similar calls have been made to Joe Biden from Chuck Schumer, urging him to declare a “national climate emergency.” For what reason? According to author and radio host David Fiorazo, the result would be that “Biden would then be able to use emergency powers.”
“If AOC, John Kerry, Greta Thunberg, global elites, and the UN get their way, we’ll be seeing new lockdowns to somehow ‘save the climate,'” Fiorazo warned.
Climate lockdowns, as far-fetched as they may sound, may soon have precedent. Indian authorities are currently considering a COVID-style lockdown and emergency restrictions in New Delhi to tackle air pollution in the city.
There is another parallel between COVID and Climate change that should not be ignored. Social Media platforms such as FaceBook, YouTube, and LinkedIn have taken significant steps to censor “disinformation” regarding climate change.
A scientist named Greg Wrightstone was recently banned from LinkedIn for stating that he does not believe that the data supports the world is on the brink of climate catastrophe.
“We’re dangerous. They cannot allow our factually-based presentations to get out to the public, because what we say makes sense and it’s backed up by science. We’re rational, thoughtful people that are scientists, that are distinguished scientists, and we’re presenting this information. They cannot do it. I look at this on a daily basis, and there’s no way to sugarcoat it,” he said, adding that people are “being lied to on a daily basis about climate change and its ramifications.”
From a Christian perspective, trusting in the infallibility of the Word of God (The Bible), we know that the world is not going to end as a result of climate disaster (see: the book of Revelation).
That being said, Christians do not deny that strange and more extreme weather events are occurring.
Jan Markell, the Founder and President of Olive Tree Ministries, in her article, “Top Bible Prophecy Stories in 2021 – Harbingers Of His Return,” explained that the problem occurred when the world took “God out of the equation” discussing the climate.
“Who can watch the calamity of natural disasters today?” she wrote. “Weather commentators have said they are escalating with greater frequency and intensity. Imagine—the world is using biblical terminology! The world has taken God out of the equation, and suggests the tragedies are man-made and the result of man-made climate change, when there are over 50 Bible references stating that God is in control of the weather.”
During the Tribulation Period, the seven years prior to the Second Coming of Christ, when God pours out His wrath on a world that has rejected Him, we read about massive ecological destruction which will befall the world. World leaders may attempt to explain these events as a result of man-made climate change instead of judgment from God.
“While these will be off-the-chart in the Tribulation, we see a foretaste of them now in the Church Age, and particularly all of 2021,” Markell continued. “The world is suggesting that only a mother-earth type worship system will fix these natural calamities as they refuse to recognize them as the hand of God. They are a stunning herald of Christ’s soon return.”
Franklin Graham recently responded to world leaders like Boris Johnson, who claimed that the world is “one minute to midnight” regarding climate change.
“I believe we are one minute to midnight—not regarding climate change, but on God’s clock, when He will bring judgment on those who have rejected Him and His Son, Jesus Christ,” Graham explained. “I’m often asked if we are getting close to the return of Jesus Christ. No man knows the day or the hour [Matthew 24:36], but I believe we are getting close. You’d better be ready.”
Romans chapter one states that God’s creation should cause the world to recognize Him. However, the apostle Paul warned that our society, which professes itself to be wise, has become foolish by worshiping the creation rather than the Creator (Romans 1:22-25).
