Elon Musk says he won’t take coronavirus vaccine, calls Bill Gates a ‘knucklehead’

SpaceX founder Elon Musk stirred the pot yet again after claiming that neither he nor his family would take a COVID-19 vaccine even if it was readily available.

The 49-year-old billionaire dropped the bombshell during a Monday appearance on the New York Times opinion podcast “Sway.”

“I’m not at risk, neither are my kids,” Musk told host Kara Swisher about the rationale behind his decision.

During the bizarre exchange, the Tesla CEO decried the nationwide lockdown as a “no-win situation” that has “diminished my faith in humanity.” Musk previously called widespread quarantines “unethical” and “de facto house arrest,” RT reports.

Instead of the current sweeping measures, the Boring Company boss suggested a more targeted lockdown where “anyone who is at risk” be “quarantined until the storm passes.”

Swisher criticized his suggestion, adding that humans could potentially die in the process.

“Everybody dies,” quipped Musk.

To emphasize the supposed ridiculousness of the quarantines, Musk boasted that SpaceX “didn’t skip a day” throughout the entire pandemic. “We had national security clearance because we were doing national security work,” he said. “We sent astronauts to the Space Station and back.”

Later on, the automotive mogul addressed Bill Gates’ criticisms of his skepticism toward the coronavirus, which Musk called “dumb” in March. During a CNBC interview in July, the Microsoft founder claimed that Musk didn’t know much about vaccines and said he hoped that the SpaceX head “doesn’t confuse areas he’s not involved in too much.”

“Gates said something about me not knowing what I was doing,” Musk told Swisher. “It’s like, ‘Hey, knucklehead, we actually make the vaccine machines for CureVac, that company you’re invested in.'” He was referring to the fact that Tesla manufactures equipment for the German biopharmaceutical firm CureVac.

This past July, the car magnate shaded Gates with a series of cryptic tweets that read, “Billy G is not my lover” and “The rumor that Bill Gates & I are lovers is completely untrue.”

‘I’m Not Going To Answer That Question’: Biden Refuses To Say If He Will Pack The Supreme Court

Joe Biden refused to say whether or not he would pack the Supreme Court when questioned during Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

“Whatever the position I take, that will be the issue,” Biden said when asked if he will pack the court. “The issue is the American people should speak. You should go out and vote. You are voting now. Vote and let your senators know how strongly you feel. Vote now. Make sure you in fact let people know.”

WATCH:

“He’s not answering the question,” President Donald Trump responded.

“I’m not going to answer that question because,” Biden said before Trump interjected, “Why wouldn’t you answer that question?”

“Would you shut up, man?” Biden responded before debate moderator Chris Wallace told the candidates that they were moving on to the next segment.

The former Vice President has recently refused to say whether or not he will pack the Supreme Court. During the presidential primaries, Biden said that he was against court packing because Democrats would “live to rue the day.”

Some Democrats have come out in support of court packing following Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death and President Trump’s subsequent nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to fill the empty seat.

Republicans have argued that Trump is right to nominate a Supreme Court justice during an election year, while Democrats say that a nomination shouldn’t be made until after the next election.

Chris Wallace’s Debate Performance Was Absolutely Disgraceful

 AP featured image

President Donald Trump, left, and Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden, right, with moderator Chris Wallace, center, of Fox News during the first presidential debate Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, at Case Western University and Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, Ohio.

When Chris Wallace said yesterday that he wanted to be “invisible” at last night’s first Presidential Debate, I knew that was a promise he wasn’t going to keep. His animosity toward Trump is no secret. It’s also no secret that he’s been very friendly with Joe Biden, even as Biden has spit in his face and refused to grant an interview.

The debate was about what you would expect. Trump was overly aggressive while Biden lied and relied on the moderator to save him continuously. That wasn’t supposed to happen. This was Fox News, and Chris Wallace is supposed to be a serious newsman. He was anything but that though.

As the night wore on, Wallace grew more and more hostile, refusing to let Trump answer questions at times, asking slanted questions that benefit Biden, and not bringing up topics that would have been beneficial to the President. At one point, Wallace even joked with Biden about Trump supposedly ranting, which was really just Trump trying to answer a question, in what was one of the most unprofessional displays by a moderator I’ve seen.

Here’s some more of the play by play to give you an idea if you didn’t watch it yourself.

One of the worst moments of the night was Chris Wallace pretending as if he doesn’t know what Critical Race Theory is and trying to needle Trump for opposing it.

But perhaps the biggest abdication of Wallace’s duty involved the very beginning of the debate. Biden was asked if he supports packing the court, one of the most damaging, consequential possibilities in modern American history. When Biden refused to answer the question, Wallace simply moved on. When Trump tried to press, Biden told him to shut up and Wallace just let it happen. It was astonishing to watch.

You got that? Bringing up white supremacy for the 100th time was worthy of a full segment, but talking about one of the biggest political scandals in recent memory is something that they needed to move on from before Biden was made to answer.

As to Fox News itself, they don’t deserve any leeway here. They could have chosen someone like Bret Baier, who has repeatedly shown himself to be a fair moderator. Instead, they went with a known hack like Wallace, who may not always be predisposed to oppose Republicans in general, but has clearly shown his distain and hate for Donald Trump over the years.

To be clear, I don’t say any of this in this article because I think Trump “lost.” I actually think he got some good punches in and held his own in a two on one fight. But it shouldn’t have to be that way.

I’ll end with this comment, because I think it perfectly encapsulates the awful job Wallace did.

At some point, Republicans are going to have to get wise to the game and stop playing it.

ABC's Martha Raddatz: 'There wasn't a whole lot of enthusiasm' for Biden during my road trip across America

ABC News correspondent Martha Raddatz witnessed a lack of excitement for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden while speaking to voters across America.

After taking a 6,000-mile road trip, Raddatz appeared on "The View" and revealed that a top campaign issue for voters heading into November is "the economy," telling Whoop Goldberg that she was "very surprised" and "really shocked" how little the coronavirus outbreak was mentioned as if "you wouldn't really know it was happening."

"The hard-core Trump voters... they basically say Trump walks on water. Nothing will change their mind," Raddatz said. "In fact, this morning, I called someone who I talked to on the road trip about Donald Trump and the tax story and he said, 'Good for Donald Trump. As long as it wasn't illegal, I want the name of his accountant.' So those people, that solid base is not going anywhere."

ABC'S JONATHAN KARL: 'A BIG CHUNK OF THE COUNTRY' BELIEVES THE PRESS IS NOW 'THE RESISTANCE'

She went on to say how little support for the Democratic nominee she witnessed while on the road.

"I also found there wasn’t a whole lot of enthusiasm for Joe Biden," Raddatz said. "There’s a lot of enthusiasm among Democratic voters and some independents to get Donald Trump out, but not necessarily that enthusiasm."

Raddatz also recalled the 2012 vice-presidential debate she moderated between then-VP Biden and then-GOP candidate Paul Ryan and how they were "so civil" and "dare I say, gentlemen."

"I don’t think you’re going to get a lot of that tonight," Raddatz previewed the first presidential debate between Biden and President Trump before reflecting how the Biden-Ryan debate "seems quite quaint" by comparison.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot's 'Census Cowboy' rides horse during protest till its feet bleed and it collapses. Now he's facing a felony charge, and the horse may need to be euthanized.

Authorities arrested 33-year-old activist Adam Hollingsworth — also known as the "Dreadhead Cowboy" or "Census Cowboy" — after a Monday protest in which he rode a horse on a Chicago highway until the bleeding horse collapsed.

The horse, which is in critical condition due to its injuries, may now need to be euthanized.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) tapped Hollingsworth to work with her earlier this year to boost census participation in the city.
What are the details?

According to a report from WTTW-TV, Hollingsworth rode the horse for more than seven miles on the Dan Ryan Expressway during Monday's impromptu protest.

The horse, which was reportedly not outfitted with proper shoes for concrete, collapsed after running for about an hour.

Cook County prosecutors said the horse's treatment was the "equivalent of forcing an 80-year-old woman run a marathon," WTTW reported.

Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Kevin Deboni said that the horse was nearly run to death and suffered "extensive damage" to its health.

Deboni said that the horse's eyes "were dilated to the point they looked like cartoon eyes."

All for #KidsLivesMatter

Hollingsworth said that he rode the horse on the Dan Ryan Expressway during rush hour to support the #KidsLivesMatter movement, according to the outlet, which describes the initiative as one "that aims to raise awareness and motivate residents to fill out the census to help communities receive better funding."

According to Block Club Chicago, the movement is in response to children killed by gun violence.

In August, Hollingsworth told the Block Club, "When you get kids occupied and they've got things to do with their time and their life … all this senseless killing that's going on, it'll slow down a whole lot. It's important to support dance groups [or] anything that's got something to do with kids. If it's something positive, support it."

Witnesses of the Dan Ryan Expressway incident told the outlet that they saw Hollingsworth kicking and whipping the horse to keep it running even after it slowed its pace due to exhaustion and injury. Shortly after, the horse collapsed on the ground.

Emergency veterinarians responded to the scene and took the horse in for treatment of severe dehydration, overheating, and lacerations to its front legs that caused heavy bleeding. Authorities took Hollingsworth into custody.

WFLD-TV reported that the horse also had sores beneath its saddle, which was not properly padded.
A felony charge and a rebuke from the mayor

In a statement, Mayor Lightfoot's office condemned Hollingsworth's "stunt."

"There is a right way and a wrong way to call attention to issues of great importance and this stunt was decidedly the very wrong way," the mayor's office said in its statement.

Hollingsworth was charged with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to an animal, as well as misdemeanor counts of reckless conduct, trespassing, and other traffic-related offenses.

At the time of this reporting, the horse remains in critical condition, and will never be able to be ridden again.

The horse may also have to be euthanized due to its injuries and "due to the suffering the animal will likely endure for the rest of its life."

Hollingsworth was held on $25,000 bond during a Wednesday court appearance, and was required to pay 10%. He is due back in court on Sept. 30.

'Lori, come help me, I can't do it alone'

On Thursday, a tearful Hollingsworth told the Chicago Sun-Times that he did not abuse the horse.

"My focus is on the 'Kids Lives Matter' because if you look up the history of when it comes down to kids getting killed, 2020 is the highest rate ... and it ain't right," he told reporters. "Everybody is trying to steer away from that part, and that is very important — that is an important topic we need to stick on."

Hollingsworth insisted that how he treated the horse was "no different than how horses are treated in the circus or at a racetrack," the outlet reported.

"The people that don't know anything about horses looking from the outside in, you would think that what I did was cruelty to animals," he explained. "But if you go to a racetrack, it's 100 times worse, if you go to a circus, worse. ... It's way worse than what I do to my horses. I probably could've did a little bit less, but I had to make a statement."

He also insisted that the description of the horse's injuries were exaggerated, and that he would like to appoint an independent veterinarian to examine the horse.

"I think that is just a way to make the situation seem worse than it is because I am a black brother and I am doing very good for the community and standing up for the Kids Lives Matter movement and not focused on anything else," Hollingsworth reasoned.

He also revealed that he has been the subject of abuse since his arrest.

"Every day I step outside I am taking a chance with my life," he said. "I basically look at [the hate mail] and just close them. I can't change how a person feels."

He also called upon Lightfoot to defend him.

"When [Mayor Lightfoot] called upon me [to assist with the 2020 census], I was there for her," he added. "Monday was my stress signal: Lori, come help me, I can't do it alone."

1. Nearly 100,000 Brooklyn Voters Got Wrong Ballot Return Envelopes/ 2. New York City Residents Receive Absentee Ballots with Wrong Names, Return Addresses

AP Photo/Ted S. Warren

The New York City Board of Elections on Tuesday admitted that nearly 100,000 Brooklyn voters received absentee ballot return envelopes with the wrong address and names labeled on them.

CNN reports:

Valerie Vazquez-Diaz, a spokesperson for the board, told CNN the issue affected 99,477 voters. She blamed a third-party vendor, Phoenix Graphics, which had been contracted to print and mail the ballots to voters in Brooklyn and Queens. CNN has reached out to the company for comment.

Michael Ryan, the election board’s executive director, said at a meeting on Tuesday afternoon that the city has ordered the vendor to remail new ballots “to make certain that absolutely no disenfranchisement occurs in the borough of Brooklyn.”

The development follows a New York Post report revealing that Queens voters received mail-in ballots marked for military use despite having not served in the armed forces.

“There’s just mass confusion about these ballots and what people are supposed to do with them,” Democrat Van Bramer said in an interview with the Post. “People were already not trusting this process and they were already not trusting the Board of Elections to count the ballot right.”

“This apparent typo just has everyone confused and believing these are invalid ballots,” he added. “It’s absolutely outrageous that when everyone is watching them, they still screw up the most basic thing, which is printing the ballot correctly.”

Last week, Virginia Republican officials said 1,400 voters in the state had two absentee ballots mailed to them.

“We knew the Democrats’ many last-minute changes to our election law would make our elections less secure, but no one could imagine voters receiving two ballots,” Virginia Republican Party chairman Rich Anderson said in a statement.

New York City officials have mailed absentee ballots with the wrong names and addresses on the return envelopes as fears grow over potential fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

The Associated Press reports:

The faulty ballots were sent to an unknown number of voters in Brooklyn and could result in ballots being voided if voters sign their own name on return envelopes bearing different names. More than 140,000 ballots have already been sent out so far across the borough. It was unclear how many people got the wrong envelopes.

The New York City Board of Elections blamed the problem on the vendor hired to print and mail the ballots for voters in Brooklyn and Queens.

[…]

[Board of Elections Executive Director Michael J. Ryan] said the proper ballots and envelopes would get to voters before the Nov. 3 election. Ryan didn’t immediately describe how that would happen, how much it would cost or what would happen if voters had already mailed their completed ballot back in the provided envelopes.

“We are determining how many voters have been affected but we can assure that the vendor will address this problem in future mailings, and make sure people who received erroneous envelopes receive new ones,” Ryan said in a statement.

The AP’s report comes one day after the New York Post said Queens voters received mail-in ballots marked for military use even though recipients never served in the armed forces.

“There’s just mass confusion about these ballots and what people are supposed to do with them,” Democrat Van Bramer told the Post.

On Sunday evening, an undercover Project Veritas video showed an operative allegedly linked to to freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) bragging on Instagram of multiple ballots that he acquired. The following day, President Donald Trump weighed in on the video, calling on state officials to probe into the alleged ballot harvesting operation in Minneapolis.

“This is totally illegal,” the president tweeted. “Hope that the U.S. Attorney in Minnesota has this, and other of her many misdeeds, under serious review??? If not, why not???”
