What should have been a nice day out at a Seattle food festival turned into a nightmare Sunday as two gunmen reportedly opened fire on each other, killing three and wounding four others, including a toddler. And the response from city officials, including socialist Mayor Katie Wilson and Chief of Police Shon Barnes, is being called "amateur hour" in the wake of the tragedy.
The gunfire broke out shortly before 6PM at Bite of Seattle, a three-day food extravaganza that was being held at Seattle Center in the shadow of the city's famous Space Needle. Videos of the chaos began popping up on social media almost immediately, including one caught by a vendor who was doing a livestream when the shots rang out.
As of Monday morning, three people are dead and a handful of others are being treated at local hospitals for serious injuries.
The Seattle Fire Department said two people were pronounced dead at the scene after attempting life-saving procedures.
Three other victims, including a 2-year-old, were transported to a hospital in stable condition, while a fourth victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition, the fire department said, adding that a fifth victim with minor injuries declined to be transported by first responders.
The other story that's starting to pop is the "amateur hour" response of the sanctuary city's public officials, who allegedly put off holding a press conference to update the public in order to have "dignitaries" on hand. Those dignitaries turned out to be Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) and Democrat Gov. Bob Ferguson, neither of whom spoke.
Mayor Wilson, the unabashed socialist who was elected last year with the barest of resumes, said the shooting was "an act of horrific violence." She continued, "No one should have to weigh the risk of being shot before attending an event, gathering with friends, or experiencing their city."

As RedState has previously reported, crime is so bad under Wilson's watch that residents have begun putting up walls and other kinds of barriers to keep criminals out of their neighborhoods. And they're getting precious little protection from the police.
Noticeably missing from the Sunday night press conference was Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes, whose underlings that were actually present seemed somewhat unprepared for the media crush.
Where was Chief Barnes? Apparently, where he is often found: at his home in Chicago. Yes, the man who earns an annual salary of $360,485, excluding bonuses and benefits, is reported to spend a significant amount of his time not actually fighting crime in Seattle.
Very little is known right now about the gunmen, but one is currently in police custody.
Although the second suspect is still at large, police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
