Another Conspiracy Proven: After Years of Denial, UN Condemns Hamas Stealing Aid in Gaza...Sort Of

One of the sidebar storylines in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine is the ever-convoluted melodrama of the plight of the people in Gaza. As vacuous claims of “genocide” continue to percolate, it is said that the citizens are starving and suffering from a dearth of medical supplies and other forms of aid. This is not, however, a case of a lack of aid being provided.

There has been one reality that gets lightly reported and is more likely to be contested: Hamas has been hijacking relief missions inside Palestine on the regular. For reasons that defy logic, available evidence, and common decency, Hamas has been shielded from accountability in these instances, with denials being offered or veiled addressing of the issue when it is reported. Just as likely, we have seen Israel being blamed for stifling relief missions inside Gaza.

It has been pure farce all along, and yet this narrative has continued. The denials have been aggravating, especially when the very people who bleat the loudest about the human tragedy in the region are the same ones who will try to distract from the reality of the terrorist group inflicting the suffering on its own people. Now we have a tacit admission from the United Nations about the issue.

A new statement has been issued by a U.N. authority calling out the very activity that has been taking place for years. While this is refreshing to see, the exoneration does carry a whiff of impotent outrage. This is the U.N. we are talking about after all; they are basically incapable of using stern language towards any nation that is not Israel or the U.S.

This arrives from Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, and while welcomed, it is also not enough. The doctor was installed in a new position one year ago to oversee some of the operations in the beleaguered region, and it is difficult to see the results. Holding to one of my Slager Maxims of Life & Politics™, that the longer the professional title, the shorter the list of effectiveness, Dr. Alakbarov is dubbed “The United Nations Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and Resident Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Authority.” Holy hell, talk about needing both sides of the business card.

Bypassing the assessment of his success/failure with his prescribed duties, what Alakbarov had to say was refreshing to see. At the same time, it displays the very hesitancy to directly address the primary problem in Gaza.

“I strongly condemn the recent obstruction of humanitarian operations in Gaza by the de facto authorities, which endangered humanitarian personnel, intimidated workers delivering lifesaving food assistance and disrupted life-saving humanitarian operations.”

Well, what do you know?! They have come around to admitting that this is a real issue concerning the efforts of getting help to the Palestinian people. And yet...

This inability to directly call out the group behind this problem is a glaring dose of cowardice. What is that simpering use of “the de facto authorities”?! Why can you not come out and directly drop this charge into the lap of the terrorists who are oppressing their own people??? No one is confused about who runs the show in that intemperate enclave. You cannot come out and declare that you “strongly condemn” the actions while showing the inability to look the perpetrators in the eye with your accusations.

This follows years of U.N. hesitancy regarding this terror group. The confiscation and outright pillaging of relief supplies by Hamas has been taking place for years, as seen in these deleted posts from the U.N. in 2023 that were captured for posterity by the Israeli authorities.

This means that even as the United Nations grudgingly admits to the real problem, it does not desire real solutions, as it delivers veiled responses so as not to anger the cherished terror group. Even as the denied activities are now being proven, in typical U.N. fashion, they prefer to offer lip-service platitudes couched in euphemisms that do nothing to address the problem. In other words, just another day at the “global authority.”
