“Newly released unsealed photos that the Biden administration kept in the dark above”
For years, the Biden Department of Justice kept the full story of what happened to Ryan Samsel buried. Sealed. Classified under layers of institutional protection while a compliant media constructed a narrative that served one purpose — to destroy a man who refused to lie for them. But Ryan Samsel and his legal team never stopped fighting.
They documented everything. They preserved every medical record, every nursing report, every USMS log, every court filing that captured what was truly done to this man. And on June 9, 2026, that fight produced something the Biden DOJ never wanted the American people to see.
A federal civil complaint — Samsel v. United States, Case No. 3:26-cv-00530-DJN, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia — is now public record. The truth is no longer sealed. And it is devastating.
What the Lawsuit Reveals
From the moment Ryan Samsel refused to provide false testimony against fellow January 6 attendee Joe Biggs — testimony prosecutors demanded, testimony Ryan knew to be a lie — the machinery of the Biden DOJ turned on him with a ferocity that the complaint now formally describes as the most sustained and severe torture of any individual in recent American government custody. The United States government has not disputed that characterization. Not once.
What Ryan Samsel endured across four years, seven facilities, and hundreds of documented days of abuse is not alleged rumor or political grievance.
It is now sworn federal court record, backed by medical documentation, nursing reports, and government logs that the Biden administration hoped would never see daylight.

At DC Jail, correctional officers zip-tied his hands behind his back, dragged him to a cell deliberately positioned away from cameras, and beat him until he lost consciousness. He was taken by ambulance to Howard University. Medical records confirmed fractured orbital bones, nasal bone fractures, possible traumatic optic neuropathy, and permanent partial vision loss in his right eye that he carries to this day.
He was falsely labeled a sex offender — a lie the prosecuting AUSA herself admitted in writing — yet that classification followed him from facility to facility, stripping him of basic protections and landing him in a three-by-six-foot cell with the lights burning 24 hours a day. A vascular surgeon ordered bilateral rib surgery for a serious pre-existing condition. The government denied it. They sent him back to his cell instead.
At Central Virginia Regional Jail, he was shackled from behind in direct violation of his own medical orders, a guard sat on his back, and his head was driven into the ground and down a staircase. He suffered a concussion and spinal contusions. The attorney video call arranged to check on him was blocked. The surveillance footage the court requested was never produced.
At Northern Neck Regional Jail, he was beaten so severely he required CPR. Stabbed in the legs and ankles with keys. Punched. Head slammed into a door.
When he regained consciousness, six used doses of Narcan had been placed around his body — staged, the complaint alleges, to manufacture the appearance of drug use and justify what had been done to him. A second fractured orbital bone. Documented stab wounds. And when 911 dispatchers called the facility, officials denied any incident had occurred.
They then strapped him into a four-point restraint chair for seventeen hours with no bathroom access while middle school-aged children watched through windows. He developed a blood clot in his leg. Officers mocked him when he could not stand.

At USP Lewisburg, a scheduled surgery was anonymously canceled the morning before it was to take place. He was rotated every ten days into solitary cells where the previous occupant had defecated throughout the space. Without gloves. Without cleaning supplies. For three months. Correctional officers delivered his food through the toilet system.
He suffered untreated shingles that left permanent nerve damage and scarring across his body. He was then transferred to MDC Brooklyn and deliberately housed behind the leadership of MS-13, who attacked him for his political beliefs. He was stabbed in the arm and forced to stitch the wound himself because seeking medical attention risked further punishment.
This is what the Biden DOJ kept sealed. This is what their media allies never reported. This is what Sean Penn’s Hollywood production will not show you.
The Man They Could Not Break
Ryan Samsel supported this movement with everything he had — including his body, his health, his name, and four years of his life. He endured what most human beings could not survive with their sanity intact.
His strength, by his own account, comes from his faith in Jesus Christ. He has said publicly that they did the same to God when He walked this earth — and that he takes no shame in having been hated for refusing to bend.
He works today as a barber when the media’s poisoned narrative hasn’t cost him that too. He lives with permanent vision loss, chronic seizures, nerve damage, vascular disease, and PTSD. The lawsuit now demands $17,980,000 in compensatory damages. And this, according to his legal team, is only the complaint. There is significantly more to come.
What We Do Now
President Trump’s DOJ is no longer the Biden machine that kept these facts in the dark. We trust that this administration will pursue justice for Ryan Samsel with the same conviction Ryan showed when he chose four years of documented torture over a single comfortable lie.
But trust must be accompanied by pressure.
Tag Todd Blanche and Donald Trump. Ask them directly — what does this administration plan to do for Ryan Samsel? What is owed to the man who never broke, never lied, and never abandoned the people he believed in even as they abandoned him?
Share this article. Repost it. Send it to your friends, your family, your coworkers. Send it to people who disagree with you. Because the Democrat-controlled DOJ lied about this man for four years and a compliant press helped them do it. Now the documents are public. Now the truth is in federal court. Now there is no excuse for silence.
Sean Penn can make his movie. But Ryan Samsel’s lawsuit just told America what really happened.
And we are not going to let them bury it again.
