DOJ Seeks Death Penalty Against Man Who Gunned Down Two Israeli Embassy Staff Outside Jewish Museum in DC

The Justice Department on Friday announced it will seek the death penalty against the man who gunned down the young Jewish couple in DC last year.

Last May 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, of Chicago, Illinois, was arrested after gunning down two Israeli Embassy staff members outside of a Jewish museum in DC.

The soon-to-be-engaged couple, Yaron Lischinsky, 30, and Sarah Milgram, 26, were killed as they left an American Jewish Committee event at the Capital Jewish Museum.

Rodriguez shouted “Free, free Palestine!” as he was taken into custody, according to law enforcement.

Last summer, Jeanine Pirro announced a DC grand jury returned a nine-count indictment against Rodriguez:

“Counts 8 and 9, assault with intent to kill while armed, while armed with a firearm, he assaulted CS and AT, those are initials with intent to kill a person.”

On Friday, Pirro announced her office is seeking the death penalty against Elias Rodriguez.

“Let me be clear: anyone who commits acts of political violence in the nation’s capital will face the full force of the law,” Pirro said.
