The attorney general of New York fired her lesbian assistant AG for rightly calling gender-affirming care for children “consumer fraud.”
New York is a progressive stronghold (read: hellhole) thanks mostly to New York City. State Attorney General Letitia James is as leftist as they come, which is why it was sort of a jolt to hear that she recently fired Assistant AG Glenna Goldis, a “member of the LGBT community” who was over the Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau.
Goldis, a lesbian, has been a lawyer for 15 years, specializing in public interest law. She had been working for the New York AG for four years. During that time, she tried to warn James about the injudicious position she was taking on pediatric gender medicine (PGM), a.k.a. “gender-affirming care.”
PGM, as it stands now, is on the brink. Doctors who experimented on gender-confused kids in the name of “compassion and empathy” and inflicted irreversible damage on them are facing lawsuits to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. Why? Well, for several reasons, the biggest of which is that children cannot consent to such harmful procedures like puberty blockers, hormone therapy, or even bodily mutilation because their prefrontal cortex isn’t fully developed. They have no concept of long-term effects. Most of them don’t even really understand that they aren’t invincible.
As Tyler O'Neil at The Daily Signal explains, “The Department of Health and Human Services has determined that there is ‘extremely weak evidence’ for any positive impact of such interventions, while the harms are real, obvious, and concrete.”
Even the Supreme Court ruled in U.S. v Skrmetti that withholding PGM from minors was not unconstitutional. Minors should be protected from these barbaric interventions.
Goldis consistently pointed this out to James, warning her that medically transitioning minors was consumer fraud. Goldis had been writing, researching, and debunking the PGM narrative and talking points since 2023. She is also of the opinion that many children who believe they are gender confused are actually homosexual. Many members of the LGB cohort feel this way about the Ts — that they’re predatory and disproportionately going after gay kids. Unfortunately, transgender ideology disproportionately ensnares autistic kids because it plays on their inherent feeling of otherness.
Goldis wrote an exposé in The Free Press this week and elaborated about her experience. “When I expressed my concerns about such full-throated support [for PGM], I was at best ignored, at worst threatened,” she revealed. “Last April, when I was trying to discuss my views, a colleague told me, ‘If you say one more word on this subject, I’m calling HR.’ And all this came to a head that day, January 15, when I was told that, unless I resigned — or agreed to ‘cease from engaging in any unapproved, disruptive speech immediately’ — I would be fired in a week.”
Goldis later stated, “I chose progressive lawyering as my career because I wanted to fight for vulnerable people. It’s ironic that my career on the left may be over because I did exactly that.”
As I commented earlier this week, “Homosexuals are no longer bringing with them political power or momentum; therefore, they are not useful to the Left.” This seems to be a case in point. The victims whom Letitia James is currently promoting are gender-confused kids. And since the assistant AG — who just so happens to be a lesbian — disagreed, she was fired.
The ironic thing is that transgenderism as an ideology is more of an albatross than a boon to the Democrat Party. Nevertheless, it’s an agenda that most progressives will still push if given the opportunity. Goldis herself admitted, “The Democratic elite’s zombie-like devotion to pediatric gender medicine is as obstinate as ever.”
Just look at Virginia under Abigail Spanberger or California under Gavin “I Want to See Trans Kids” Newsom.
Goldis is not the first member of the LGB cohort to blow the whistle on PGM, but she is perhaps the first to be fired for it. Frankly, her actions were very brave, and she should be commended. The medical industry unquestionably preys on children, and poor parents are given a false choice of “dead child or living lie” if they refuse to go along with the PGM protocol. It is consumer fraud, and it is destroying the lives it purports to save.
