Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) gave the very strong impression that she had personally viewed a classified video of a suspected narco-terrorist drug boat involved in an alleged "double tap" strike during an interview with CNN.
Actually, she did more than give the impression. She flat-out claimed she watched the video. With her own eyes.
Duckworth described it as "deeply disturbing" during an appearance on CNN’s "State of the Union" Sunday, accusing War Secretary Pete Hegseth of committing "essentially murder" and a potential war crime.
When host Dana Bash asked her if she had viewed the video, she did not waver.
"I have seen the video. And it is deeply disturbing," Duckworth replied.
She went on to describe Hegseth as "the least qualified secretary of defense in our nation's history."
Bash asks her to clarify her statement on the video, and, in less than 60 seconds, Duckworth not only backpedals but completely contradicts what she had just said.
"I just want to make sure that I get this accurate," Bash pressed. "You have seen the classified video of this particular strike, the first strike, and then the double tap, as it's known."
"No, I have just seen what's been available in the media," Duckworth responded. "I have read the full report, but I have not seen the actual video. I have requested to be able to see the actual video."
From "I have seen the video" to "I have not seen the actual video" in under a minute. That has to be record time for outing yourself as a liar.
Duckworth is so hell-bent on getting the Democrat talking points across on Hegseth being a "war criminal" and having committed murder that the congresswoman apparently forgot she hadn't actually watched the classified video.
She wants him to resign, but outs herself with an idiotic lie that proves maybe she's the one who needs to step away from her job.
"It was essentially murder with that double-tap strike," Duckworth said without evidence. "It is a war crime. It's illegal. However you put it, it's all illegal."
All based on things she saw "in the media."
Democrats have accused Hegseth of ordering the “double-tap” strike on a Venezuelan drug-running boat, where survivors were documented, then supposedly calling for a follow-up strike to take them out. It stems from a Washington Post report that even the New York Times shot down as having an erroneous timeline.
Admiral Frank "Mitch" Bradley also denied the report. Bradley, then the head of Joint Special Operations Command overseeing the operation in early September, ordered the second strike after determining the vessel was not sufficiently immobilized.
The left has been gunning for Hesgseth since day one, starting with Signalgate. Duckworth is just pushing more conspiracy theories to tarnish his reputation.
It's an obsession. An unhealthy one at that.
Back in March, Duckworth demanded Hegseth "resign in disgrace" over Signalgate, calling him a "f**king liar." By September, she was outraged over the costs of flying in generals for a meeting.
Now, she's hoping this newest manufactured scandal will surely stick.
