Safety First: Massive Arrests Now Targeting Illegal Alien Truck Threats

We've seen all the reports of people issued commercial driver's licenses (CDL) who should not have been; people who can't read or speak English, people who are in the country illegally, and so forth.

The crackdown is underway. An Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in California has taken over a hundred of these illegal drivers off the highways.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested more than 100 illegal alien truck drivers on California highways in Operation Highway Sentinel, launched after a string of deadly crashes linked to commercial driving licenses (CDLs) issued under Gov. Gavin Newsom’s policies.

Federal authorities said the sweep was launched after multiple fatal crashes across several states involving illegal alien truck drivers licensed in California, underscoring growing concerns that the state’s commercial licensing policies are putting motorists nationwide at risk.

Those arrested included illegal aliens from India, Mexico, Colombia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Russia, Georgia, Venezuela, El Salvador and Honduras.

That last sentence is hopeful; if we know where they are from, it should be no trouble sending them back. This has gone on for too long; most of these people shouldn't even be in the country, much less driving a truck that weighs 35,000 pounds and can travel at 90 miles per hour on our public roads. We've already seen the tragic results.

ICE representatives aren't shy about pointing out the obvious in this California operation.

"Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary state policies are costing American lives," ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan said. "His government knowingly issued thousands of CDLs to illegal aliens who had no business driving at all, let alone behind the wheel of a massive semi-truck. These drivers get their licenses, leave California, then terrorize roads all over the country."

"ICE is stepping in where his state failed," Sheahan added. "Just like our operations in Oklahoma and Indiana, we are taking these dangerous illegal alien truckers off the roads and making California streets safe again."

I will take issue with one word used by Deputy Director Sheahan in the sentence "ICE is stepping in where his (Gavin Newsom's) state failed." The word failed implies that the state of California, under Democrat Governor Newsom, tried to manage this situation appropriately and just missed the mark. That's not what happened. This wasn't a failure; it was deliberate malfeasance. This was political correctness run amok. This was a callous disregard for the standards that CDL holders should be held to, and worse, it was a callous disregard for the safety and property of the people of California and the United States.

These people should never have been driving big rigs. They never should have been driving at all. They shouldn't have been in the country at all. California didn't just fail to meet a standard; the Newsom administration did this deliberately. And, remember, it's a near-certainty that Gavin Newsom will be seeking the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. Add this to the long, long list of issues that should get anyone to the political right of Bernie Sanders out to vote, in the midterms and in the 2028 election, or else this crap will go nationwide.
