IDF kills Nablus terrorist after 18 month manhunt

IDF kills Nablus terrorist after 18 month manhunt

The eliminated terrorist was responsible for the May 2024 car ramming that killed two IDF soldiers at the entrance to Nablus.

A fierce firefight erupted in eastern Nablus late Monday night as Yamam, IDF and Shin Bet forces closed in on a wanted terrorist barricaded inside a residential structure.

The forces surrounded the house, engaged the gunman and, after exchanging fire, Yamam forces fired two missiles at the building, killing him. No Israeli casualties were reported.

Palestinian outlets said two additional suspects were arrested.

The eliminated terrorist was responsible for the May 2024 car ramming that killed Kfir Brigade soldiers Sgt. Elia Hillel and Sgt. Diego Gabriel Hersage at the entrance to Nablus. The attack prompted an intensive 18 month manhunt by Israeli security forces determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The pursuit faced a major setback when the terrorist turned himself in to Palestinian Authority security forces.

He was expected to be transferred to Israel, but the PA instead released him, allowing him to vanish and forcing Israeli forces to restart the search.

Monday night’s operation brought the chase to an end. Security officials said the successful operation demonstrates Israel’s resolve to track down and eliminate those who murder its soldiers, no matter how long it takes or where they attempt to hide.
