Good Samaritans in Jacksonville, Florida rushed to the aid of a woman and two children and stopped a man from trying to kidnap the children in front of a Department of Motor Vehicles.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman was desperately trying to pull her children out of the suburban-style vehicle when bystanders took action to help her.
The driver sped away but was later arrested. That’s included below in this video released by the Sheriff’s Office.
More than a dozen Jacksonville Good Samaritans stepped in during a dangerous situation, potentially saving a mother and two children from serious injury or worse. On March 12, outside the Department of Motor Vehicles on North Main Street, witnesses saw a disturbing scene unfold. A man was driving away in an SUV as a woman was desperately trying to pull two children—ages 2 years and 6 months—out of the back seat. Investigators determined the man was driving off against the woman’s will, dragging her and one of the children through the parking lot.
Without hesitation, people nearby rushed to help the woman and children. The bystanders were able to get them to safety before the driver fled the scene. They also provided a description and license plate number to 911 call takers.
Later that day, using witness accounts and video footage, JSO District 6 Task Force officers located the suspect, 26-year-old Yanni Human, outside a shopping center and arrested him. He is charged with child abuse and false imprisonment—both felonies—along with battery, possession of marijuana, and resisting an officer without violence.
This situation could have ended in tragedy. Your JSO is grateful for the quick action and bravery of the Good Samaritans who stepped up and helped bring the suspect to justice.
The man was apparently released two days later on bail:
I hope this pedophile rots in prison for the rest of his life. I know he won’t, but he should.
