The Federal Bureau of Investigation (
FBI) has officially closed its Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) mere days before President-elect Donald J. Trump’s inauguration. “In recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), effective by December
2024,” the agency confirms.
The
closure of the ODI aligns with the end of Joe Biden’s government, with President-elect Trump set to assume office on Monday. Critics of diversity, equity, and inclusion (
DEI) initiatives, including Trump, argue that they divert the FBI and other government bodies from their core missions. In the case of the FBI,
Secret Service, and related law enforcement and security agencies, this potentially
compromises national security in favor of left-wing ideology.
DEI has also been on the run in the private sector ahead of Trump’s return to power.
Jack Daniel’s, Harley-Davidson,
Stanley Black and Decker, and Ford are among other leading brands that have scaled back or eliminated
DEI initiatives in recent months—despite Democrats lobbying corporations to maintain support for them.
The DEI agenda suffered another blow to its reputation this month with California’s outbreak of devastating wildfires. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was found to have been funneling
seven-figure sums to DEI at a time of severe budget
cuts, further reinforcing the belief that state- and corporate-backed diversity often comes at the expense of effectiveness.
