Perhaps inspired by the Hunter Biden pardon, a Democrat House staffer on Monday decided that the laws of America should not apply to him.
As Fox News reported, 38-year-old Michael Hopkins, who works for Rep. Joe Morelle (D-NY), was arrested for allegedly attempting to bring ammunition into the Cannon House Office Building. Capitol police said they noticed the ammunition on the x-ray screen.
All told, police found four ammunition magazines and eleven rounds when they searched his bag. Hopkins claims he “forgot” the objects were in the bag.
Capitol Police released the following statement to Fox News:
At approximately 8:45 a.m., a House staffer entered the Cannon House Office Building and put his bag through screening. USCP officers noticed what appeared to be ammunition on the X-ray screen.
After a hand search of the bag, officers found four ammunition magazines and eleven rounds of ammunition. The staffer told the officers that he forgot the ammunition was in the bag.
Rep. Morrelle’s office released a statement earlier Monday saying they were looking to obtain more information about the incident and assured the public they are committed to ensuring “a safe and secure workplace for all.”
Hopkins has been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, including one charge for possession of a high-capacity magazine. There is no word regarding whether current White House resident Joe Biden is weighing a pardon for Hopkins.
It’s always interesting how Democrats believe the laws should not apply to them, especially when it comes to firearms. This comes at the same time they are trying to strip ordinary Americans of their Second Amendment rights.
As an aside, Hopkins has made several appearances as a guest on FOX 5 DC for years. These include his analyses of the GOP primary debates and the Trump witch-hunt trials.
