Patrick Frey, Deputy District Attorney at Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, has suggested the American people will have to rise up and kill President-elect Donald J. Trump if he becomes a dictator. “If Donald Trump is going to become a tyrant, the American people will have to examine the option of dealing with him the way a citizenry deals with a tyrant.” Thomas Jefferson famously wrote that the “tree of liberty must be refreshed” with “the blood of patriots and tyrants” periodically.
Frey, who goes by ‘Patterico’ online, made the comments on Bluesky, a bolthole for former X (formerly Twitter) users fleeing the platform since Elon Musk purchased it and endorsed Trump’s third bid for the presidency. Several hard-leftists have gotten themselves into difficulty by indulging in unhinged rants within their echo chamber. For instance, Scientific American editor Laura Helmuth had to resign over a series of posts lambasting Trump voters as “f***ing fascists” and calling Vice President-elect J.D. Vance a “bigoted, misogynistic, white supremacist.”
On X, Frey celebrated the overthrow of Syria’s former President Bashar al-Assad by al-Qaeda, suggesting he is “lucky to be living in exile.”
