An African migrant, who has been hailed Germany’s “poster for integration,” has just been jailed for violently beating and raping his own mother.
30-year-old Moise Lohombo, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa, was celebrated by corporate media as a success story for integrating foreign migrants into German society.
However, Lohombo was just sentenced to nine years in prison by the Wiesbaden District Court for the horrific attack against his mom.
During the trial, the judge even told the court that the offense was so cruel he thought he had misread the case file.
The migrant was found to have committed the crime in an apartment he shared with his mother.
He unleashed the shocking assault on his mother shortly after being released from prison for a drug-related offense.
Upon the return home of his mother, he threatened her with a knife, the court heard.
He then told her he would kill her if she refused him sex.
In a desperate plea, his mother offered him money for a prostitute instead, but he refused.
The victim was so severely beaten during the attack that investigators found blood spatter all over the apartment.
After the rape, Lohombo reportedly apologized to his mother and called her an ambulance before fleeing.
His mother was transported to the hospital with serious injuries including bleeding on the brain.
She was also heavily impacted psychologically by the attack.
The victim reportedly told nurses she was worried her son may have impregnated her.
Lohombo had become a poster boy in Germany for how migrants could transform their lives and successfully integrate into Western society.
His story gave hope to other African migrants who were hoping to “seek asylum” in Europe.
Having arrived in Europe at the age of 8, the child migrant already had problems with aggression.
Lohombo had a history of attacking other children.
With a long rap sheet in his youth, the Congolese national was portrayed as someone who had turned their life around.
He completed a taxpayer-funded apprenticeship as a baker before turning to professional boxing.
German corporate media outlet Deutsche Handwerkszeitung published a glowing puff piece on Lohombo in 2017.
“If you sit across from Moise Lohombo over a latte, you see a charming, friendly young man who enthusiastically shows pictures of his bull terrier dog Betty on his cell phone,” the article reads.
It described Lohombo’s life as one of “ups and downs” and praised how he had “literally fought his way through” from a life of crime.
However, the article claims her had become a “model citizen” after leaving his “youthful sins” behind.
Nevertheless, the facade of a transformation failed to last.
Lohombo was later incarcerated for drug offenses.
He was released on August 25, 2023, shortly before he brutally raped his own mother.
During sentencing, the judge told the court he thought he had misread the case file upon reviewing the circumstances of the offense.
“How can something like this happen?” the shocked judge asked.
While attempting to defend his actions, Lohombo responded by arguing that he “did not know how this had happened.”
In mitigation, his defense lawyer claimed his client had consumed psychogenic substances and alcohol.
The attorney insisted that Lohombo was not of sound mind during the attack and should be spared jail.
However, there was no evidence that Lohombo had consumed drugs or alcohol before the attack, or that he was suffering from a psychiatric condition.
The court rejected calls to place him in a psychiatric institution instead of prison.
The judge dropped the hammer and jailed him for nine years – a lengthy sentence in liberal Germany.
