Footage Shows Transgender Nashville School Attacker Used Carbine, Not AR-15: What the Media Got Wrong

Recent surveillance images and footage have revealed that the 28-year-old transgender suspect who attacked a Nashville Christian school was armed with a carbine that fires pistol rounds, not an AR-15 as AWR Hawkins over at Breitbart reports.

The suspect was carrying three firearms, but police photos confirm that none of them was an AR-15. The weapons in question included an AR-pistol, a handgun, and a carbine. The carbine used by the attacker fired 9mm or .40 caliber handgun rounds.

Surveillance video suggests that the AR-pistol may have been used to shoot and shatter the front door’s glass. However, in photos and footage of the attacker roaming the halls in search of potential targets, she is seen holding the carbine.

NPR inaccurately reported that the attacker wielded a handgun and “two AR-style guns.” In reality, she had a carbine, which is not an “AR-style” weapon, an AR-pistol, and a handgun.

Gun control activist David Hogg has been advocating for an AR-15 ban since the attack on the Christian school. He retweeted CNN’s Josh Campbell’s post-Nashville assertion that “The AR-15 style rifle is the weapon of choice for the nation’s deadliest mass shooters.” Hogg even tweeted, “If you believe that an AR-15 is worth more than a child, you are an enemy of the American people.”

However, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) photos demonstrate that the attacker did not possess an AR-15 rifle. Surveillance images and videos show her walking through the school’s corridors with a pistol-caliber carbine.
