With Thanksgiving just a few days away, when parents and their children across America will gather, often with other family members, and hopefully for joyous times, I couldn’t let the following insanity pass by.
As observers of the far-left are well aware, these people continue their insidious efforts, one bite at a time, to destroy the very culture of American society and replace it with a utopian (dystopian) world.
In this case, a world devoid of even the cornerstone of mankind, the traditional family. In its place, children would instead be raised by society as a whole. Insane? Of course, it is; I told you so in the first paragraph.
Thus argues Sophie Lewis, as reported by The College Fix. Lewis, an expert on “feminist, trans and queer politics and philosophy” recently spoke at UMass Boston at an event named after her latest book, “Abolish the Family: A Manifesto for Care and Liberation.”
Lewis’s goal is to “reimagine” the traditional family beyond fatherhood and motherhood with such roles being replaced, in a “more universal sense,” where children are not “property” of their parents, but “raised by society as a whole.” This wingnut makes George Orwell look like a piker — except Orwell warned us about totalitarian dystopia, but Sophie Lewis wants to do her part to make it a reality.
A flyer promoting Lewis’s speech also promoted her 2021 book, “Full Surrogacy Now: Feminism Against Family.” The online description reads: “Let us overthrow, in short, the ‘family.’”
In an interview with The College Fix, Lewis said she was invited to speak at UMass Boston by the Center for Humanities, Culture, and Society because of her “fearless and rigorous work breaking from traditional ways of thinking about institutions such as the family.”
Lewis said in a different interview she believes it’s her “calling” to destroy traditional family structure:
I suppose that I’m called to the challenge of thinking about these really difficult questions of how those intimate spheres are affected by capitalism and how they are political.
The left needs to get a little bit braver also at challenging the rhetoric of motherhood. Because a lot of the people who do mothering, I call them mother-ers to just ram home the point, that we can mother one another after the abolition of the family, this is what will hopefully be lifted up.
Laughably naive, or intentionally ignorant, leftist buffoons like Sophie Lewis never point their smug fingers at real authoritarianism under real repressive regimes, and the devastating consequences to every aspect of the daily lives of the people they rule, rather than parroting left-wing gibberish about the evils of capitalism. Moreover, Ms. Lewis likely knows zero about parenthood, based on misguided views.
Let’s hit one more silly quote from Ms. Lewis before we wrap this one up:
To abolish the family is not to destroy relationships of care and nurturance, but on the contrary, to expand and proliferate them. Reflecting on the conditions of possibility for such universally xenofamilial — that is to say, comradely — kin relations … argues for utopia(nism) in feminist kinship studies.
The Bottom Line
Lewis’s insanity is yet another example of left-wing faux intellectuals poking around the fringes of society, constantly attempting to gain a foothold with one radical idea after another. We can laugh at them or we can heed them, but we should never ignore them— especially when they come for the children.
