Alberta’s New Premier Will Not Associate With WEF

by Jen Snow   November 1, 2022

Recently elected Alberta Premier, Danielle Smith, who has been an outspoken opponent of vaccine and mask mandates, is standing firmly in agreement with federal Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre, in severing all ties with the World Economic Forum. At a news conference on Monday after her cabinet was sworn in, Smith said, “I find it distasteful when billionaires brag about how much control they have over political leaders. That is offensive…the people who should be directing government are the people who vote for them.”

Smith’s refusal to associate with the WEF has led to a smear campaign against her that is being led by Canada’s mainstream media which has been claiming that any opposition to the WEF is due to a “conspiracy theory.”

Alberta has long been a hold-out in Ottawa’s campaign to force authoritarian lockdowns, vaccine passports, and mask mandates on Canadians during the pandemic. When looking at figures from the pandemic, Alberta’s death and infection rates were at the same level as all other provinces in the country.

Smith and Poilievre refuse to affiliate with the WEF which has pushed many of the cell phone tracking apps for Covid infections that have been encouraged by the CDC in the U.S. and made mandatory in China. The WEF has also promoted the concept of a “shared economy” which will see the end of capitalism and free markets with the WEF stating that people will “own nothing, have no privacy.”

Canadian mainstream media states that Smith’s justifiable criticism of the WEF is based on “online conspiracy accusations, unproven and debunked, that the forum is fronting a global cabal of string-pullers exploiting the pandemic to dismantle capitalism and introduce damaging socialist systems and social control measures, such as forcing people to take vaccines with tracking chips.”

One of the main arguments the media makes for Smith needing to work with the WEF is that not doing so would put the public at risk in Alberta as it would be missing out on important information from the WEF. The WEF, meanwhile, has not provided any critical or life-saving health information during the pandemic. Not only that, but as an organization based in Switzerland, it has very little to do with Canadians altogether.

Despite the media’s attacks on Smith for doing what is best for her province and constituents, she and Poilievre show no signs of changing their views of aligning themselves with the WEF. While the WEF still has a strong grip globally, particularly with ties to Rishi Sunak, the newest British Prime Minister, it clearly has two fewer allies in Canada.
