Time Magazine Roasted For Using ‘Absurd’ Pronouns For Controversial Author

 

Time Magazine is being ridiculed for a confusing tweet using “absurd,” woke pronouns to describe the author of a controversial book targeting minors.

In a tweet promoting an article about Maia Kobabe — who is the author of the gender ideology propaganda book ‘Gender Queer,’ which is targeted at minors — Time Magazine used extremely confusing language to describe the so-called “nonbinary” author.

Kobabe’s controversial book has recently been at the center of the culture war after parents discovered it in high school libraries across the United States. Looking through the book, parents discovered “graphic” illustrations of sexual situations — many of which resemble pornography.

Despite the obviously inappropriate images and themes in the book, the American Library Association in 2020 named “Gender Queer” as a winner of an Alex Award, which is for “books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18.”

Kobabe describes herself as a “nonbinary” and “queer” author and illustrator, and uses the made-up pronouns e/em/eir — which are known as “Spivak pronouns,” and are named after 1990s mathematician Michael Spivak, who introduced the pronouns in his manual “The Joy of Tex,” according to information from Psychology Today.

Time magazine used Kobabe’s confusing pronouns in their article, which was reacting to news that a judge in Virginia had recently struck down an attempt to ban her pornographic novel from being sold to minors. The lawsuit asserted that the novel was both obscene and unfit for children.

Many readers have described the article as difficult to read due to the use of the made-up pronouns.

Time magazine went on to promote the article on its official Twitter account, alongside the confusing caption: “TIME spoke to ‘Gender Queer’ author and illustrator Maia Kobabe on about eir work, the efforts to restrict access to eir writing, and what ey make of the current cultural moment.”

Reactions on Twitter quickly ridiculed Time magazine for using the “absurd” pronouns.

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh mocked the tweet by citing his pronouns as a collection of random letters and numbers, likely just mashing the keyboard at random.

“Why are you using imaginary words?” author John Hawkins asked.

“I mean, people are free to use whatever crazy pronouns they want for themselves, but the idea that everyone else is supposed to keep a pronouns spreadsheet based on the whims of every narcissistic weirdo seems unsustainable,” author Frank J. Fleming responded.

“Using these absurd neopronouns isn’t just silly and weird, it helps normalize a regressive pseudoscientific ideology that is inflicting enormous harm on society. Do not comply,” evolutionary biologist Colin Wright replied.

“I’m certain that when TIME 1st decided to use ‘preferred pronouns’ it justified it on grounds of kindness & respect. It didn’t occur to anyone that there was no stopping place; that their failure to put accuracy and the reader’s comprehension first meant they were now powerless. To deny ANY ludicrous, narcissistic demand for control by a subject or interviewee over how they are referred to,” wrote author Helen Joyce.

“Language is an important part of a culture. Leftists want to destroy every aspect of us including our culture. That’s why they’ve redefined the meaning of vaccine, recession, and woman. This is utter nonsense. And we’re under no obligation to encourage these delusions,” said Colorado State Senator Nathan Dahm.

“How can we insist children learn and use proper grammar when this is mainstream?” Beverly Hallberg, senior fellow at Independent Women’s Forum, asked.

“I use the pronouns people prefer. I will call a trans woman ‘she’ or a trans man ‘he’. I’ll do it all the time, and I’ll do it with courtesy, respect, and charity. I refuse to use these narcissistic neo-pronouns,” singer Phil Labonte responded.

“TIME magazine is promoting a lunatic narcissist who draws explicit pornographic comics for tweens,” investigative journalist David Steinberg replied.

“What the hell is an ‘eir’? I thought Time was having mini strokes as they were typing this out or something,” said author Adam B. Coleman.

“Ey think yeir stupid,” columnist Karol Markowicz responded.

“For a second I thought TIME was tweeting in German,” wrote podcast host Katie Herzog.

“People may laugh, but I actually find it pretty sad to see a publication as iconic as TIME Magazine reduced to this,” said editor Ben Kew.

This isn’t the first time that Time magazine was roasted on social media. The outlet was recently called out for publishing a “sycophantic” cover of President Joe Biden, and belittling Helen Keller as “just another privileged white person.”
