There was no Christmas spirit on display in an online exchange that broke out Thursday between Candace Owens and Meghan McCain, with the latter eventually telling the former to “get f**ked.”
It all began — as best we can tell — with a tweet from McCain attempting to shame Owens after the conservative media personality scored an interview with former President Donald Trump
During the interview, Owens stated that more people have died from coronavirus under President Joe Biden than under Trump, noting that “more people took the vaccine this year.” The former president was quick to dismiss any question about the effects of the vaccine.
“Oh no, the vaccines work, but some people aren’t the ones. The ones who get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don’t take the vaccine. But it’s still their choice. And if you take the vaccine, you’re protected,” he told Owens. “Look, the results of the vaccine are very good, and if you do get it, it’s a very minor form. People aren’t dying when they take the vaccine.”
Getting ugly right out of the gate, McCain responded in a tweet: “Trump schooling Candace Owens with facts and logic regarding getting the vaccine is really a sight to behold. Credit where credit is due and I hate the guy.”
Owens has a reputation of giving as good as she gets, and this was no exception as she dropped a truth bomb on McCain that had to leave a mark.
“Hey Meghan— did you know that the overwhelming majority of people dying and/or being hospitalized from Covid-19 are clinically obese? People like you love the vaccine because it allows you to pretend that you care about health. People like me see right through that bullshit,” Owens tweeted.
And Katy, bar the doors because it was on!
McCain tagged Ben Shapiro, founding editor-in-chief and editor emeritus of The Daily Wire, where Owens has a show, instructing him to “come get your girl,” but Shapiro appears to be smart enough to know it’s not wise to get caught up in a catfight. Meanwhile, Owens opted to stay on point.
“Why don’t you come get this medical paper which correlates clinical obesity to a 113% higher chance of hospitalization, 74% higher chance of ICU admission, and a 48% higher chance of death. ‘But muh vaccine!!!'” she tweeted.
The response from McCain was to come back with what Owens would refer to as “pre-school comebacks,” as the former co-host of “The View” tweeted: “Lol, I know it stings having your golden God, Trump, call you out on your anti vaxxer bullshit.”
As the battle to one-up the other continued, Owens comically asked McCain if she wanted to come on her show.
“Just say the word and I’ll have my producers reach out,” she advised her antagonist, before dropping this zinger: “That way, you can actually be in an episode as opposed to spending your full day tweeting about it.”
Presumably having grown tired of getting boxed about her ears in the exchange, McCain went for the knock-out blow by accusing Owens of spreading “misinformation about the safety of vaccines,” before dropping this gem: “You’re a danger to public health. Get f*cked.”
Owens countered: “Also, ‘get f*cked’. Really, Meghan? So gutter and trashy.”
The currently unemployed McCain’s disdain may have been prompted by a tweet earlier in the day from Owens, resulting in her taking the opportunity to virtue signal for a potential future network employer.
“I have no issue with any person who wants to get the vaccine. I just will never ever let that vaccine into my body,” Owens tweeted. “I believe firmly that Big Pharma is the greatest evil on the face of the planet. I am healthy, young, in shape and simply unafraid of Covid-19.”
Here’s a quick summary of responses to the story from Twitter:
