On 01/04/2021, Sheila Jackson Lee, a U.S. Representative, introduced bill H.R. 127; a bill that violates not only the constitution, but also the National Firearms Act, and basic human rights. The bill targets every single firearm owner in the United States, which is about 1/3rd of the population.
This bill will allow anybody to find personal information on all gun owners, restrict almost every firearm from ownership, restrict what ammo and magazine one can buy, and require a licensing system for a right guaranteed by the constitution. The licensing process makes lower income individuals struggle to obtain a firearm. Furthermore, this bill will require a registry for all firearms, which is in direct violation of the National Firearms Act.
In 1995, Sheila Jackson Lee pledged her loyalty to the Constitution, specifically reciting,
“I, Sheila Jackson Lee, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”
In the U.S. Constitution, the Second Amendment specifically grants individuals the right to possess a firearm. This amendment also boldly states, "Shall not be infringed."
With the introduction of this bill, Sheila Jackson Lee has committed to violating this amendment, and therefore violating the Constitution, which she solemnly swore to uphold.
