NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio on Variant Virus Strain from the U.K.: ‘Let’s Have a Travel Ban Right Now’

 

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) on Tuesday called for a travel ban from the United Kingdom over a variant strain of the Chinese coronavirus — one that is reportedly more transmissible — referring to it as the “new foe.”

De Blasio administration: Trump travel restriction is 'childish retribution based in racism'

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration was quick to condemn President Donald Trump's travel restrictions for New York residents as "childish retribution based in racism." 

The Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday night that New Yorkers will no longer be eligible to enroll in programs such as Global Entry due to the new state law letting undocumented immigrants obtain driver’s licenses. The law limits the ability of DMVs to share information with some federal agencies — most notably Immigration and Customs Enforcement — and DHS is arguing that information is necessary for the programs to work.
