May 2, 1967: Two dozen armed Negroes entered the state Capitol at noon today and 10 made their way to the back of the Assembly Chamber before they were disarmed and marched away by the state police. The Assembly was in session at the time and Speaker Pro Tem Carlos Bee ordered the men removed from the chamber. Outside the chamber, the police took away the weapons. The men argued they could carry the weapons as long as they were not concealed. Apparently the fact the weapons were not concealed was the reason the men were able to get as far as the Assembly Chamber before they were disarmed. After the state police questioned the men, they returned the weapons to them because the intruders had broken no law. Following their release by the state police, the men left the Capitol and rejoined some companions who remained outside during the incident. They then drove off. Four or five carloads of the Black Panther group later drove into a service station at 15th and L Streets. Several police officers took the demonstrators to the city jail. An officer said they had not been charged with any offense, but added: “We’re going to take them all down and check them all out and we’re going to check out all these weapons.” Outside of the police office ... one man who identified himself as Bobby Seale of Oakland read a page-long statement of the Black Panther Party. It declared: “The Black Panther party for self-defense calls upon the American people in general and the black people in particular to take careful note of the racist California Legislature which is considering legislation aimed at keeping the black people disarmed and powerless at the very same time that racist police agencies throughout the country are intensifying the terror, brutality, murder and repression of black people.” Source: https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/history/article148667224.html |
For those saying the capitol has never been breached before and that if it was blacks the police would have killed them ..please know some history |
there was no property damage when these panthers went to the capitol hill and they played along with the law by not concealing their weapons..... so why would you want to compare them with these white supremacists that are destroying stuffs...... I tire for these blacks sef.... wey no go c anything bad about the white race but everything bad about being black and meanwhile they are also part of the black race........you are all self loathing and what I find very amusing about these self loathing nitwits is that the day a fellow black man accords the same respect to them and a white guy, they flare up, claiming a fellow black man is being racist to them. that they should be treated better than the white guy.......... in all sha......what I see is the world going to a state of chaos at some point. 3 Likes |
The crisis in America is caused by democracy. Democracy seems like the best form of government because the citizens confer political authority on those they want to govern them. But is the government of the majority really the best form of government? The government of the majority is a form of government where 76 million adults vote for Party A while 74 million adults vote for Party B in a country with 300 million people. Donald Trump had his flaws , but because those who voted (not electoral college) for Clinton were more than those who voted for him, he received hate from the first day in his office from more than half the population of America who didn't choose him to represent them. Democracy is the form of government which tells you that you can govern the country well when 76 million citizens love you and 74 million citizens hate you . The founding fathers of democracy were not thoughtless. They thought about these demerits, but envisaged that the minority would be minorities in the actual sense and they would hold the elected government accountable. When the founding fathers of democracy tested it in America "slaves" couldn't vote and slaves owners who could vote almost had one interest and this made the "majority" very different from the "minority"(it worked). When the colonialists tested democracy in Nigeria the suffrage rights were only given to males who had 100 pounds or above and later those with 50 pounds or above. Women and the "majority" whose income were below 100 or 50 pounds couldn't vote. This period the result was easy to predict since those who had 100 or 50 pounds almost had one interest. Today in America, the slaves are free , they want jobs and an end to systemic racism but their masters want to keep their privileges. The conservatives want to preserve their values, the liberals care little about that. Today in Nigeria ,those with "100 pounds" above are those living in VCG, Lagos. They come out and vote on election day without an atom of violence for the leaders they think would make their businesses better but those without "100 pounds" vote along tribal and religious lines because they have nothing to live for. Democracy motivates a subtle ideological cold war in Countries of its adherents. Democracy does not thrive in a society with huge diversity. It is stupid to think that 74 million people are not enough to cause instability to spite a government that was elected by 76 million people. It is also careless to rule out the possibility of idiots achieving majority status. When these political theories reach their climax , they begin to fail. Their failure inspire instability in Countries that practice them. What is freedom? To preach free speech against the religion people value but imprisonment for calling a person black(Racism) or Jews stingy (antisemitism)? What is liberty? To seize children from parents who discipline them with whips only to send them to jail when they become juvenile delinquents? 1 Like 1 Share |
GamalNasser:Did you even read & understand what you wrote or you just wanted to inferred what suits you. There is a difference between the United States of America Capitol Hill which belongs to the federal government & that of a State Capitol Hill. The one you posted about is that of the California Capitol Hill. Every States in the US has it's own Capitol Hill. |
