As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has remained stubbornly entrenched for months, refusing to compromise with Senate Republicans — but mostly President Trump, out of paranoid fear that he would receive even part of the credit — on a second round of COVID relief legislation, none other than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Socialist) has courageously stepped to the forefront to offer a solution: pay people to stay home.
That’s right, you Republican troglodytes, AOC put her little socialist thinking cap on and came up with a simple solution, brilliantly so. The same brilliantly simple solution all good Democrats come up with to fix problems — real or concocted: wealth redistribution. Or as Democrats like to say, we need to “invest” in our fellow Americans. In this case, while they unwillingly sit at home; the victims of continuing draconian Democrat COVID lockdowns, which continue to grow in number, as we speak.
One Republican not impressed by AOC’s solution was former South Carolina governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley — who some see as a formidable presidential candidate in 2024.
This one was over before it started, folks. Within hours of AOC’s stroke of genius, Haley pulled out a blowtorch and burned it to a charcoal briquette — in a single tweet.
“AOC, Are you suggesting you want to pay people to stay home from the money you take by defunding the police? Or was that for the student debts you wanted to pay off, the Green New Deal or Medicare for All?”
Oh, ouch. One tweet. Nikki Haley drops her mic, walks off stage. Thanks for playing.
Not to be outmatched, our erstwhile bartender returned fire — landing a devastating blow.
“Republicans are mad at this when they literally just voted to do just this in March.
“The reason they’re opposed to it now is because last time they got a Wall Street bailout and this time all that’s left is helping working people, the disabled, the poor, etc.”
No — wait — she “forgot” to include a single shred of evidence to back up her tired old Democrat-talking-point claim — made even more ridiculous by the fact that Joe Biden was the favored beneficiary of Wall Street money in the presidential election.
Humor aside, the tweet that Nikki Haley dropped on AOC’s “progressive” little head was a perfect example of the Democrat Party’s insidious desire to transfer as much money from those who make it to those who do not. Sure, they try to sell their socialist-“leaning” proposals as “investing in America,” and all such other tripe, but as Irish playwright and political activist George Bernard Shaw correctly observed:
“A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”
And here’s the thing. Shaw wasn’t condemning wealth redistribution when he said it; he was condoning it. Know why? because George Bernard Shaw was a Socialist. Entire Democrat Party unavailable for comment. [sarc]
While we’re at it, let’s take a trip down memory lane with AOC and visit the rollout of her much-ballyhooed — even more-ridiculed — Green New Deal, which the American Action Forum, among others, estimates could cost as much as $94 trillion — or more. For those of you keeping score at home, that’s more than $650 thousand — per household.
As a moral country, we have an obligation to take care of those in need who cannot take care of themselves. In this case, heavy-handed COVID restrictions by Democrat mayors and governors — with a push from D.C. Democrat lawmakers — across the country are the problem. Those are the people we must “take care of” — by fighting them at every turn.
Incidentally, the Democrats’ post-election internecine battle continues. Why? Because, said one Democrat strategist, yesterday: “We’re Democrats,” we’re morons.”
