BREAKING: Circuit Courts Have Been Reassigned – Guess Who Is In Charge Of MI, WI, PA, And GA

 

Trump railed against voting by mail during the election campaign, saying that it led to fraud.

He repeated his claims for election fraud in a speech where he declared victory in the presidential race on November 4th “We’ll be going to the US Supreme Court.” He also appeared to conflate voters casting ballots with election officials counting those ballots.

“We want all voting to stop,” the president said. “We don’t want them to find any ballots at 4 o’clock in the morning and add them to the list.”

President Trump’s campaign returned to the Supreme Court on Wednesday to try to block further counting of absentee ballots in Pennsylvania, saying the votes there “may well determine the next president of the United States.” The campaign sued in Michigan to halt vote-counting, claiming it had been denied proper access to sites where ballots were opened and tallied. Other suits challenged absentee-ballot processing in Nevada’s largest county, and late-arriving ballots in a Georgia county.

Trump attorney Jenna Ellis on Wednesday defended Trump’s bid to challenge the vote count and evaluate his legal options. “If we have to go through these legal challenges, that’s not unprecedented,” Ellis told Fox Business Network in an interview. “He wants to make sure that the election is not stolen.”

MI – Brett M. Kavanaugh
WI – Amy Coney Barrett
PA – Samuel A. Alito
GA – Clarence Thomas

Barrett was assigned to the 7th Circuit, where she served as a judge for three years before becoming a justice. Two other justices, Sonia Sotomayor and Neil Gorsuch, were also assigned for the first time to the circuits where they had previously served as judges – Sotomayor to the 2nd Circuit and Gorsuch to the 10th Circuit.

Kavanaugh, who had previously been assigned to the 7th Circuit, also took on the 8th Circuit, ceding the 7th Circuit to Barrett.

These are the circuits that the SCOTUS has oversight on and which justice is “in charge” of being the lead in the cases the are brought from those circuits. So cases appealed from those circuits are decided by those judges.

This means that emergency requests issued concerning cases in those states will go to the more conservative judges.
