Kamala Harris on COVID vaccine: Won’t take it if Trump tells me to

Sen. Kamala Harris said she will be the first take a coronavirus vaccine — as long as President Trump isn’t the one telling her to.

The Democratic challenger to Vice President Mike Pence was asked during their lone debate Wednesday night whether she’d get a COVID-19 shot, if the Trump administration approves one.

“If the public health professionals, if Dr. [Anthony] Fauci if the doctors tell us that we should take it, then I’ll be first in line to take it,” Harris said.

“But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it — then I’m not taking it.”

The dig was launched by Harris during the early portion of the debate, which focused on the ongoing pandemic.

Harris, who got the first question, opened by saying that “The American people have witnessed what is the greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country.”

“They knew what was happening, and they didn’t tell you.”

Pence countered, disputing Harris’ claim and charging that the Biden campaign’s coronavirus plan wasn’t all that different from the Trump strategy.

“From the very first day, President Donald Trump has put the health of America first,” he said. “It [Biden’s plan] looks a little bit like plagiarism, which is something Joe Biden knows a little bit about.
