Is this a conflict of interest, because it sort of feels like a conflict of interest.
CNN’s Brian Stelter and Olivier Darcy reportedly partied with disgrace former Congresswoman Katie Hill recently. This comes on the heels of Stelter giving a sympathetic interview to Hill in which he tried to spin her self-imposed scandal as a “right-wing” attack. RedState’s own Jennifer Van Laar originally broke the story last year.
This detail was included in a larger article by Page Six exposing the fact that Hill is dating Alex Thomas, a Playboy writer who had previously threatened a hit piece on Van Laar in response to her reporting on Hill’s scandals.

Media members partying with someone like Katie Hill would be bad enough in isolation. It’s much worse when those same media members spent time clutching their pearls over “right-wing media” after Hill was exposed. This is especially true when they claim to be non-biased observers, as Stelter and Darcy so often do.
Try to imagine what their response would be if a Fox News journalist was caught partying with a Republican politician who had resigned for sleeping with his staffers and lying about it. Do you think it would be kind? But this happens far too often within mainstream media circles. They go on air and present themselves as above reproach while at the same time skewing coverage for their political friends.
Perhaps Stelter and Darcy will comment on this and explain the situation, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
