Brad Pitt dredged up President Trump’s impeachment trial during his Oscars 2020 acceptance speech on Sunday night — and not everyone appreciated his bringing up politics at the awards show.
Pitt, 56, blasted the US Senate for rejecting Democratic efforts to subpoena Trump’s former national security adviser, John Bolton, to testify during the trial.
“They said I have 45 seconds. Which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week,” Pitt said when accepting his best supporting actor award for “Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood.”
“I’m thinking maybe Quentin [Tarantino] does a movie about it. And in the end the adults do the right thing,” he continued.
The digs drew a lot of laughs and applause from the Hollywood crowd, including from Tarantino.
It wasn’t as well received online.
“I was a fan of Brad Pitt. Not anymore,” tweeted @ken21246463. “Brad we don’t need another Hollywood insider giving us his Democrat opinion. Take your trophy and go home.”
Another user, @thefactualprep, added: “$20 down that brad pitt didn’t even know who john bolton was before this week.”
And @I_DigDJT wrote that Pitt was a “friggin tool.”
“I thought he had brains as well as looks. What a disappointment.”
