Bear found walking around University of Tennessee campus
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE)- Around four Sunday morning Lieutenant Doty with the University of Tennessee Police Department notified TWRA Wildlife that there was bear making its way through campus.
The bear got stuck inside Lindsey Nelson (Baseball) Stadium. Sargent Roy Smith with TWRA and Wildlife Officer Jeff Roberson responded to the scene and were able to tranquilize and remove the bear.
The bear will be transported to a more suitable habitat and released.
- Justin Thyme-Two cents worth of opinion. Maybe you've heard me say before, that living as close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as I do. Bear sightings in Gatlinburg is very common place. Whether you are renting a cabin or chalet, staying at a creek side lodge etc. But occasionally they do make it as far west as Knoxville (albeit rarely). In this case the U.T. Knoxville campus. Perhaps the bear heard their was a baseball team called the Cubs. And wanted to see what a baseball stadium looks like.
