Rashida Tlaib's Offensive Hanukkah Message

Hanukkah began last night and many politicians sent out their good wishes for a joyous holiday.

But the early Hanukkah wishes sent out in a video by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) to a progressive Jewish group have gotten a lot of attention on social media.

Tlaib sent a Hanukkah greeting to If Not Now in Detroit. If Not Now is a far left Jewish progressive group against the “occupation.” Tlaib referenced that in her message, referring to “Falistine” and that she stood with them in their fight.

From Israel Hayom:

“You give me life,” she gushed from her office in Washington DC. “Your 2020 platform calling for every public official to commit to defunding the occupation in Falistine and fighting anti-Semitism and white nationalism is one that I can support very strongly.”

She said the group can consider her as their “partner” in Congress as well as in Michigan’s 13th district that she represents.

She seemed to miss the irony of making an anti-Israel message recognizing a holiday that is about Jews fighting back against foreign invader oppressors of Judea.

As Israel Hayom also notes, “Tlaib also had the (dis)honor of being named one most prominent proponents of anti-Semitism in 2019 by the Simon Wiesenthal Center” along with people like British Labor Leader Jeremy Corbyn.” The Wiesenthal Center also named Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for some of her comments as well.

Chanukah:

Judah the Maccabee ✡ defeated one of the mightiest armies on earth, drove the Greeks from the land of 🇮🇱 reclaimed the Holy Temple in Jerusalem🕎 and rededicated it to the service of G‑d.

Calling Israel an "occupier" and celebrating Chanukah, is an oxymoron!
Was thinking the same thing - if the chanukah story was happening now, @IfNotNowOrg would be on the wrong side of history

Corbyn, Tlaib, and everyone else wishing us a Happy Hanukkah, talking about shining light & having hope. Yeah, we had hope. But you know what we did first? We kicked tush. We kicked serious tush of much more powerful Greeks who occupied our Land and desecrated our holy spaces
