Prince Andrew has been forced to step back from his royal duties because of his involvement with deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew has been frequently named as a man who copulated with the victims of Epstein’s sex trafficking network. He has denied the rape allegations to the media in recent weeks, although not in a credible manner.
“Do I regret the fact that he has quite obviously conducted himself in a manner unbecoming? Yes,” Andrew said in an interview with BBC addressing the scandal.
“At the end of the day, with a benefit of all the hindsight that one can have, it was definitely the wrong thing to do. But at the time I felt it was the honorable and right thing to do and I admit fully my judgement was probably colored by my tendency to be too honorable but that’s just the way it is,” he said about his decision to stay at Epstein’s home after he was convicted of child sex crimes.
Following that disastrous interview, Prince Andrew attempted to grovel his way back into the public’s good graces.
“I regret that I didn’t make it clear in the interview that I have great sympathy for anyone who was abused by Jeffrey Epstein,” Andrew said.
Andrew’s damage control attempts were unsuccessful, and the Duke of York has now removed himself from all royal duties due to the “major disruption” the Epstein scandal has caused. Andrew has confirmed that he will be out of the picture for the “foreseeable future.” BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond calls the move unprecedented.
“It was more than just bad publicity for Prince Andrew, it was clearly damaging the wider institution of the Royal Family,” Dymond said.
Civil court documents have shown Andrew as being a frequent client of Epstein’s trafficking network, abusing sex slave Virginia Giuffre along with a who’s who of elitists from throughout the world.
“Other than Glenn Dubin…Prince Andrew, Jean-Luc Brunel, Bill Richardson, another prince, the large hotel chain owner, and Marvin Minsky, is there anyone else that Ghislaine Maxwell directed you to go have sex with?” attorney Laura Menninger asked Giuffre in court.
“I am definitely sure there is,” Giuffre replied. “But can I remember everybody’s name? No…look I’ve given you what I know right now. I’m sorry. This is very hard for me and very frustrating to have to go over this. I don’t—I don’t recall all of the people. There was a large amount of people that I was sent to.”
It is unclear if Prince Andrew will ever return to his prestigious role now that he is an internationally disgraced figure due to these credible allegations.
