Belgium: African migrant attacks three people with wooden weapon

A man from Africa attacked three passers-by in the city center of Kortrijk on Friday evening, leaving two of the victims in serious condition.

The attacker, a 30-year-old migrant from Ghana, randomly smacked passers-by on the head with some sort of wooden weapon, a beam or a stick, leaving three people injured, Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad reports.

“Two of those injured are in serious condition”, said Hanne Demedts, the public prosecutor of West Flanders Province.

Shortly after the attacker was arrested by police, law doctors who examined him determined that he suffered from a mental illness of some sort. As a result, the man was transferred to a psychiatric hospital where he is currently being treated.

The incident is only the latest in a long string of violent attacks carried out by migrants in Belgium.
Days ago, a North African migrant who allegedly posed as a taxi cab driver so that he could pick up and rape unsuspecting females was arrested in Brussels.

In October, 15-year-old Lennert Bastiaensen was enjoying an evening with his girlfriend in Antwerp when a group of five immigrant men beat him so badly that he had to be hospitalized.  

Unfortunately, there’s no end in sight to immigrant violence as more and more pour in each day. 

Recently, Fedasil, Belgium’s government agency that’s responsible for the reception of asylum seekers, announced the creation of several new asylum centers due to lack of space in ones that are currently operating.
