Democrats in the House began an impeachment inquiry into Trump after a whistleblower filed a complaint against him that alleges the president improperly pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rival.
Trump has denied all wrongdoing, repeatedly characterizing a July 25 call between him and Zelensky that is central to the complaint as “perfect” and accusing Democrats of launching a “witch hunt” against him.
The identity of the whistleblower has not yet been revealed, but Trump has called for him to be “ exposed and questioned.” The Washington Examiner revealed Thursday that the whistleblower, reportedly a CIA official detailed to the National Security Council, worked with Biden during his time in office.
Trump publicly called for investigations into Biden and his time as vice president. He and personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani claim that Biden used his role as vice president to further business dealings for Hunter in both Ukraine and China.
