Maxine Waters claims Trump is 'setting some of us up to be killed'

In a fervent push for the impeachment of President Trump, Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters suggested Wednesday that Trump's words and actions are "setting some of us up to be killed."
Waters, who called for the impeachment of Trump as early as 2017, stated that Trump's recent remarks against Democrats in Congress was "dog-whistling to the white supremacists."

"I have death threats constantly,” Waters said in an interview on MSNBC. “There are a number of people who have been convicted for threatening to kill me." Waters also claimed that she can no longer "go to the grocery store anymore by myself” and that she now must “pay for security all the time" in order to feel safe in public. "He shouldn’t be going after anybody,” Waters said of Trump. “He’s the president of the United States of America."

Trump has remained on the defensive against assertions that the recent whistleblower complaint about a July phone call with the Ukrainian president suggests he is guilty of criminal activity. He has repeatedly criticized Democrats in Congress as they prepare to launch an impeachment inquiry into the matter and has suggested that the whistleblower should be exposed and could be considered a "spy." Trump also suggested that he interview the whistleblower to clear up the spread of misinformation.

"So if the so-called 'Whistleblower' has all second hand information, and almost everything he has said about my 'perfect' call with the Ukrainian President is wrong (much to the embarrassment of Pelosi & Schiff), why aren’t we entitled to interview & learn everything about the Whistleblower, and also the person who gave all of the false information to him," Trump said in a tweet Monday.

"The whistleblower is protected by law,” Waters said during the Wednesday interview. “And he should not be talking about wanting to interview them. If he knew anything about law, he wouldn't be so ignorant as to think that somehow anybody's going to allow him to interview a whistleblower."
