The man who stabbed four police officers to death in Paris at police headquarters was a convert to Islamic who was furious for having been reprimanded by a female colleague, according to the new reports.
Michael Harpon, a 45-year-old IT worker, is said to have murdered his female supervisor, who had previously admonished him for refusing to deal with women, with a ceramic blade, before he went on to stab several other police in the building. Before he was shot, Harpon’s rampage left four dead and one critically injured.
“I know this man. He worked in IT and he had long-running problems with his superior. He stabbed her first and then colleagues intervened and were stabbed as well. I am told he then got hold of a firearm,” said Christophe Crépin, a spokesperson for a French police union, told journalists at The Telegraph.
Although counter-terrorism officers raided Harpon’s home and arrested his wife Iham following the attacks, the murders are not being treated as terrorism. As of right now, the Paris prosecutor says that they’ll be treating the killings as a regular crime.
“An investigation has been launched into a grudge the assailant may have held against his colleagues, but terrorism cannot be ruled out,’ said the source. Many of those involved in similar attacks on the police have been Muslim converts influenced by radical terrorist groups,” a source quoted by the Daily Mail said.
