What Is Trump’s Iran Plan?

The Leftmedia might be playing checkers instead of chess, but the president’s agenda is much bigger than simply ending the Islamic regime’s nuclear threat.

The Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed to shipping traffic, and has been for roughly two weeks now, as Iran acts to counter the U.S.-Israel joint strike against the Islamic Republic’s decades-long threat.

While the American and Israeli militaries have effectively destroyed Iran’s air force and navy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) remains largely intact. Moreover, Tehran continues to launch missiles and drones from its massive stockpile, though there has been a dramatic decrease in the launch volume. Those persistent air assaults have kept the Strait closed.

This is asymmetrical warfare. Iran knows it is massively outmatched by American state-of-the-art weaponry and military capabilities; therefore, it acts not to defeat the U.S. on the battlefield but to avoid losing by simply surviving. It may sound tautological, but Tehran wins if it does not lose, whereas the U.S. loses if it does not win unconditionally.

For the Islamic regime, this isn’t about defeating the U.S. military; it’s about preventing the eradication of its own hold on power. Tehran knew that closing the Strait of Hormuz would have a cascading negative impact on global trade, particularly with regard to energy. The longer the Strait stays closed, the more pressure it puts on President Donald Trump and the U.S. to end this campaign quickly.

That said, the notion that the Trump administration didn’t plan for and foresee this exact scenario is nonsense. For a long time, the Pentagon has recognized the Strait’s impact on global economics. That it has happened does not mean it wasn’t anticipated.

In fact, contrary to popular opinion, Trump may have banked on it for his broader geopolitical goals.

Consider a couple of intriguing factors. Roughly 20% of the world’s oil flows through the Strait. China purchases over 80% of Iran’s oil, which accounts for roughly 14% of Beijing’s overseas oil imports. Furthermore, Beijing gets Iranian oil on the cheap — roughly $8 to $10 per barrel below market value. This source of cheap oil is now cut off, which, of course, negatively impacts China’s already slowing economy.

Iran is an ally of China, yet Iran’s actions are hurting its partner. How will this impact China and its alliance with Tehran? One thing is evident: neither one is benefiting.

Meanwhile, another Iranian ally is Russia. Unfortunately, the closing of the Strait benefits Russian President Vladimir Putin, as it makes Russian oil that much more valuable, boosting a Russian economy that has been sinking under the weight of Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Putin wants the Iranian regime to hold out for as long as possible. Neither he nor Chinese President Xi Jinping wants to see the Islamic regime fall. They need an anti-Israel, anti-U.S., anti-West terrorist regime controlling Iran.

So, how does this reality fit into Trump’s geopolitical agenda?

Look to Trump’s actions prior to this operation in Iran. When U.S. forces arrested and extradited Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro out of Caracas, Trump effectively took back control of the South American country’s oil assets that had been stolen from American companies. This opens Venezuelan oil to the U.S. market while effectively ending another avenue for China to access cheap oil.

In a real sense, Trump has insulated the U.S. from oil shortages while positioning it to act as the world’s leading arbiter of oil supplies. The president is returning America to the position of the world’s leading energy supplier.

Trump is even willing to end U.S. military action against Iran without regime change or reopening the Strait, using that possibility to encourage NATO members to get involved in the fight. “Build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT. You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”

His position does not mean it won’t negatively impact the global price of oil, which in turn negatively impacts the U.S. economy. But like a physician working to cure a patient of a disease, the treatment that brings healing can often, in the immediate sense, be painful and unpleasant.

In a way, Trump is that doctor, seeking to restore the nation’s economic and geopolitical health. For far too long, America’s politicians have invested in a globalist vision of the future that inherently diminishes America’s economic, social, and geopolitical power. Too many in Washington have been content to manage America’s decline rather than prioritizing the needs of American citizens first and foremost.

But as Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently told our European friends, the Trump administration is here to stop that: “We in America have no interest in being polite and orderly caretakers of the West’s managed decline.”

Trump is undoing this slow decline into an America subordinated to the interests of the globalist elites. In the immediate term, it has caused some economic pain. But in the long term, if Trump succeeds, it will be a great benefit not only to America but also the world.

Thus, Trump’s Iran plan is indeed about ending the Islamic regime’s militant terrorist threat in the region, especially its efforts to build a nuclear weapon. But it’s also aimed at countering the globalists and reestablishing the U.S. as the world’s number one geopolitical power.

Artemis II Launch Today: NASA’s Historic Crewed Moon Mission Now Prepping for Launch

Today may be the day that the Artemis II rocket launches for the moon. This mission, carrying a crew of four - Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Christina Koch from NASA, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen from the CSA (Canadian Space Agency), won't land on the moon. Instead, this mission will take the four explorers around the moon, making this the farthest humans have gone from Earth since the Apollo missions ended.

On Wednesday, NASA reported the rocket was fueling for launch at some point during a two-hour window.

Here's everything you need to know about the Artemis II mission so far:

  • NASA is targeting a two-hour launch window that opens at 6.24 p.m. ET today (April 1). The rocket is currently undergoing fueling.
  • The space agency has said there's an 80% chance of favorable weather conditions to launch Artemis II today. Today's conditions are forecast to be the best of all the days in the current launch window.
  • The April launch windows for Artemis II run from today through to Monday (April 1 to 6), with the potential for a launch on any of those days. After Monday, the next launch window is April 30.
  • This window will be NASA's last chance to launch the rocket on time, as the mission is meant to lift off no later than April 30.

NASA reports that fueling is ongoing and the pre-launch countdown is underway. As of this writing, it looks like today might be the day.

The countdown for NASA’s Artemis II test flight is underway at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with members of the launch team arriving at their consoles inside the Rocco Petrone Launch Control Center. The onsite countdown clock started ticking down at 4:44 p.m. EDT to a targeted launch time of 6:24 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1. Artemis II is the first crewed launch of NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and Orion spacecraft.

With countdown officially underway, engineers are powering up flight hardware, checking communication links, and preparing the rocket’s cryogenic systems for the precise fueling sequence required to load hundreds of thousands of gallons of super-cooled liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. At Launch Pad 39B, teams will begin filling the sound suppression system’s massive tank with water, which will unleash a protective deluge at liftoff to shield the vehicle from the roar of its own engines.

It's an exciting time to be a space nerd and to be an American.

Artemis II Gets Go-Ahead: 4 Astronauts Shooting Back to the Moon Within Weeks

The only complaint I would register about this is simply, "What took so long?" We sent men to the moon in 1969 and brought them safely home. Some of us remember that.  The Apollo missions were using 1960s technology; imagine going into space in a 1967 Rambler, and you'll have some idea of how much things have changed. So, finally, we're going back, and this test flight may well pave the way for people going back to land on Luna. There is talk about setting up a permanent base on the moon; maybe even two, although I suspect that they will not be named Moon Unit Alpha and Moon Unit Zappa, nor will there be a giant "laser."

Stay tuned.

Victor Davis Hanson Reveals He Was Approached by Fang-Fang, He Simply Wasn't Stupid Enough to Fall for It

Victor Davis Hanson Reveals He Was Approached by Fang-Fang, He Simply Wasn't Stupid Enough to Fall for It

An old clip of military historian and Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson is making the rounds on social media, as he recounts a time when Fang-Fang, the infamous spy linked to Rep. Eric Swalwell, approached him after he wrote something critical of China. Hanson said it was easy to recognize her intentions, arguing that someone would have to be a “stupid, narcissistic idiot” to fall for what he described as an obvious honeypot trap.

"I wrote some critical things of China, and Fang Fang came to see me as a consular official out of the Bay Area," Hanson said. "And I think she told me she was a political operative that monitored American politics. But when she walked in my office at the Hoover Institution, I kept the door open. I had one of my research people with me the whole time. And the way she changed accents and how she was dressed, you would have to be a stupid, narcissistic idiot to fall for that. I'm serious."

"In my case, he would say it's easier because I'm an old man," he continued. "But my point was, it was about 10 or 12 years ago. And he fell for that. And he got involved with her when he was on the House Intelligence Committee. So, end of story, with that guy...Honeypot is just a joke. Anybody could see that."

This comes as FBI Director Kash Patel is reportedly pushing to release files from a decade-old investigation into Rep. Eric Swalwell’s past ties to Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese intelligence operative who was romantically involved with Swalwell.

While Swalwell was cleared of any wrongdoing in a House Ethics investigation in 2023, questions still remain about the full extent of Fang Fang's fundraising activities, intern placements in his office, and undisclosed personal interactions with the representative.

Swalwell, the leading Democratic candidate in California’s gubernatorial race, sent a cease-and-desist letter to Patel on March 30, demanding the FBI halt any release, citing alleged violations of the Privacy Act, First Amendment protections, and DOJ rules on election interference. His attorneys argued the move is a politically motivated attempt to smear him as a critic of Trump.

Democrat Congresswoman Posts an Absolutely Unhinged Tweet After Learning Trump is Attending Today’s Supreme Court Hearing on Ending Birthright Citizenship

President Trump is making a historic move this morning that is sending the left into hysterics, including at least one Democrat congresswoman.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft reported , Trump is attending oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court concerning birthright citizenship, becoming the first sitting president in American history to attend oral arguments.

As TGP readers know, Trump issued an executive order last year that proclaimed that children born to illegal alien parents in the United States or temporarily present are not American citizens. But black-robed tyrants masquerading as judges have blocked the order, even after the Supreme Court rejected nationwide injunctions by rogue leftist judges at the time.

In July 2025, two rogue federal judges and a three-judge panel on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Trump’s birthright citizenship order.

After learning about Trump’s bold move to attend today’s hearings, Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV) went on X and posted an absolutely unhinged tweet with several F-bombs.

“So f**king f**ked up. I’ll pray they f**k him to his face,” she wrote.

“Sorry, I say f*ck a lot these days.”

Was Lee worried that Trump would somehow influence the Court with his presence?

Lee later deleted the tweet, but the Internet is forever.

According to Trump, the 14th Amendment is being hijacked by the left to give citizenship to ‘anchor babies,’ children of illegal migrants.

Here is what the order states:

“It is the policy of the United States that no department or agency of the United States government shall issue documents recognizing United States citizenship, or accept documents issued by State, local, or other governments or authorities purporting to recognize United States citizenship, to persons:

(1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or

(2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States was lawful but temporary, and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth.”

Trump goes on to explain in the executive order why the 14th Amendment has always excluded infants born illegally present in the United States.

“[The] Fourteenth Amendment has never been interpreted to extend citizenship universally to everyone born within the United States. The Fourteenth Amendment has always excluded from birthright citizenship persons who were born in the United States but not “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” Consistent with this understanding, the Congress has further specified through legislation that “a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” is a national and citizen of the United States at birth, 8 U.S.C. 1401, generally mirroring the Fourteenth Amendment’s text,” the order reads.

Islamic activist organization demands Democratic senator apologize for recent Bill Maher appearance

Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin appeared on 'Real Time with Bill Maher' on Friday

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) demanded Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., apologize on Monday for appearing on "Real Time with Bill Maher" because of the host's "long history [of] anti-Muslim bigotry and anti-Arab racism."

"Your participation in Mr. Maher's show came just days after you publicly criticized a Muslim public figure for associating with Hasan Piker, whom you accused of engaging in antisemitism, which he has denied," a letter from CAIR read. "Meanwhile, Bill Maher has called Arabs dangerous to women, claimed that ISIS accurately represents most Muslims, argued that Islam itself is the 'problem' and never apologized or retracted these or other hateful remarks."

The letter continued, "Given this record, your decision to appear as a featured guest on his platform — without publicly challenging or distancing yourself from his rhetoric — sends a deeply troubling message to your Muslim and Arab constituents. It suggests a double standard in which some forms of bigotry are condemned while others are overlooked or implicitly tolerated."

Sen. Elissa Slotkin on "Real Time with Bill Maher"

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., was criticized for appearing on "Real Time with Bill Maher."

In a statement after releasing the letter, CAIR called on Slotkin to denounce her appearance and Maher in support of the Muslim community.

"The double standards that American Muslims face, even from a senator who represents one of our nation’s largest Muslim populations, are truly remarkable. If consistency means anything to Senator Slotkin — and if she believes hate against any of her constituents is unacceptable — she must denounce Bill Maher’s bigotry and apologize for embracing him," CAIR said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Slotkin's office for comment. Fox News Digital also reached out to HBO for comment about CAIR's statements on Maher.

Slotkin appeared on Maher's show Friday night, when the two discussed several topics including the ongoing war with Iran. Slotkin voiced her disapproval of President Donald Trump launching military strikes against Iran, while Maher criticized the Democratic Party's nearly uniform opposition to the war despite Iran's past actions.

CAIR is demanding an apology from Sen. Slotkin for appearing on Maher's show without denouncing his views.

"Iran has been attacking the West for a long time, including the ally that is our most important ally in the world, and that is Israel. It's not NATO," Maher said.

Slotkin also appeared on an "Overtime" panel with Maher, Stephen A. Smith and Laura Coates. During the episode, the panel discussed the growing level of antisemitism in the Democratic Party when Slotkin defended not taking money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

"Long before October 7, I stopped taking AIPAC money, not because of Israel or any other issue like that, but because they were giving money to people who had been participating in January 6th... AIPAC, they give money to both Democrats and Republicans and people who had been involved in inciting January 6, they were giving money to," Slotkin said.

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., criticized President Donald Trump's military strikes on Iran on "Real Time with Bill Maher."

Maher called out the Democratic Party for refusing to push back against influencers who "don't know s---" and "learn everything about Israel on TikTok."

"Their leaders are not standing up and saying, 'Kids, you don't know what's going on here. Every war Israel has fought is a war of defense,'" Maher said.
